Motor finally let go due to number 4 rod bearing spinning then welding itself to itself then rod snapping and piston shattering and the wrist pin and half the rod flying out the side of the block
. This was my 7 th pass of the night that day and 15 years of owning the car. Still had stock headgasket and around 160psi compression in all 4, motor was never taken out of engine bay. But I do oil changes and Pm's all the time was right around 360ish hp.My engine has 205,000 miles on it. My car has 273,000. I've beat the living crap out of it. These engines are tough if you do all the routine maintenance.
I run 25psi with a small 16g. I've never dyno'd the car, so who knows the exact hp numbers.
A well taken care of DSM, or any car for that matter, still has plenty of life left at the mile marker. A close friend of mine is going low 12s with an original long block with a 177k on it.
