Ok so ive read a number of different threads but have not come up with much. I have checked my connection to my pressure regulator and the switch. I have connected it and disconnected it, talked to 3 different people. One is currently attending a mechanic school, the other works at a quick lube, and lastly another is a respected dsm member with 3 different dsm's with 450whp each. I have spoken to all of them and have not come up with much, here are the pics. THe first one, oil pressure when car is warm and just sitting and idling. THe second is on the highway going 70mph. It drops soon as im off the gas. I understand my oil pressure should not be this high, any reasons why?

Im in the same boat with the low oil pressure. I just got my prosport electrical oil pressure gauge and wired everything up. I also ordered the adapter plate they sell that goes between the filter and oil pump. When I started the car up the gauge reads around 10 and keeps flashing/beeping at me which is so annoying. Now im a little worried to drive cause its so low and the gauge on my dash doesnt even move, any ideas?

Being cold where I'm at, I'm doing Mobil-1, 10w30, but when it warms up, heading up to the 20w50 range.

Mine is the doing the same: At cold idle, the needle inbetween "L" and the mid point along with hot at 3600RPMs. Hot idle is at "L".

take the cap off and see oil shloshing and splashing around under the cover. No tick, no knock just a nice smooth idle.

And do agree: no tick and plenty of oil in the top end, I've got enough pressure at idle.

Here's a pict of my gauge setup while on the freeway. One can see how low the oil gauge is reading.

Oh well ... - DSM

Mine is not quite that low after it just ate the ballance shaft bearings:( and yes it made metal:barf:

Sparkley oil the kiss of death:banghead:

Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge ?

Asking me, No but we have had the Talon for the last 140k so when somthing changes you know it.

Lower oil pressure+unexplaned noises = cut open oil filter and see whats going on inside the engine.

that pressure looks WAY too low for that speed. that actually what my pressure looks light at idle and then while im driving the needle hovers between those two lines. yea i would def. get an aftermarket gauge to double check before tearing into things could just be a bad sender for the cluster.

Both my gauges Prosport electrical and my cluster gauge needles stay on the "L". However my prosport gauge starts at around 30 when I start the car, then drops below 10 almost to zero say around 2lbs. when i accelarate it goes up to 10-15 depending on speed but cruising stays back down the low numbers almost zero. checked the dipstick and its fine and i have no oil leaks anywhere. maybe its the sender that came with the gauge. :banghead:

thats all well and good but im still running stock t25 and its way high im just needing to know wether to replace it or what can any1 help me as im going in circle's now and just want to fix it anyone!!!!!

this is on a recent oil change 300 miles ago. and while cruising at 75 on the highway. just seems pretty low. it used to be right above the boat thing(LOL) during the same circumstances. same amount of oil in the car as well, and isnt leaking anything. at idle, it is about halfway between the very bottom line and the 2nd line from bottom.

i would suggest installing an aftermarket oil pressure gauge then you can get the actual PSI and determine if the oil pressure is correct, also look in a service manual for the stock oil pressure at idle and accelerating.

Wow, Mine is the same exact reading as yours. Around that speed mine is the same exact. I was worried for a few days so I started to check my oil pressure senders unit. The oil pressure senders unit didnt look too healthy and the slightest movement it could fall off. i tried cleaning it and putting it back on, so I will see if anything changes in the next few days. I am thinking about just buying an aftermarket oil pressure guage, because the factory ones are not very accurate, especially consdering how old our cars are. If you find out whats the reason for your reading, let me know. Thanks

& I also have a PTE 50 trim like you along with hks 272 cams, and pretty much most of your setup. I think even at this readin,g (if the reading is accurate), were still safe, but it just bugs be knowing my other DSM's were slightly above the oil can thingy.

I got back from driving my car around, while i was driving the oil pressure was normal. I parked my car, and left it for about 10 minutes, then i came back to start it, the engine was still warm, everything was normal except for the oil pressure was at a steady 100psi. Any ideas on what it is?

Is it a mechanical or electronic gauge? Make sure that none of the wiring is grounded or shorted if its electronic. It also could be a possiblity that the relief spring inside the housing is stuck.

Yea check your gauge out first, thats the simplest thing to check out first. If that all checks out fine, then move on to the oil filter housing itself and check that out, i agree with bleedingsilver, check out your relief spring and the piston to see if either of them are stuck. But check out all the simple things first, then move on to the other stuff.

this is only a couple weeks old so hopefully it will get a response im having the same problem i have a 1g n/t 2.0. my idle (when the car is warm and after its done with that f'n surge:banghead:) is at like 500 (which is pretty bad) and my oil pressure gauge (stock) is reading right in the middle of the first line and second line. however when im accelerating the pressure will increase like normal. ill try to attach a pic. does this mean time for a new sending unit? im gonna change my oil tomorrow ### its about that time (3000 miles)

also i know of i have like mad oil leaks but i cant find em. there;s oil like all over my engine compartment. one i know is where i screw in the filter theres always oil on the bottom of it. another is somewehre around the top part of the lower radiator hose.

That one where the oil filter is mounted at, looks like you lost a front main oil seal. And with the top part of the block, you could have also lost a cam seal as well.

If you lost that front seal, it could be getting the T-belt wet with oil and that will bust a belt due to the oil weakens the rubber and fabric on the belt.

Had too much block pressure from blowby and it pushed out the front seal some. Better check your PVC system to see if you're not plugged up there...

As for the pressure on idle, you're okey there-at least's above the "L" and the oil pressure idiot light doesn't come on. As for the idle RPM's, you can adjust that up with the BISS screw in the throttle manifold.

Good luck - DSM
