This problem happened on my first DSM as well. When I initially turn the car on,, the idle goes up to about 3k and slowly goes back to normal 800-1k when the motor is at operating temperature. I do not know of any other DSM that has this problem. Is their a solution to this problem?

I believe its a rather common problem. My car goes to about 2 grand and the settles off after its warm.

That's how you know that your FIAV is working. When it is cold, it will allow more air through your TB. Once your motor is warmed up, it will slowly block off the air to allow a lower idle. However, an idle that high can be a bunch of problems, mainly in the TB. I would look into doing a boost leak test, then testing your ISC/ECU to make sure they're still in good shape. After that, make sure your BISS screw isn't leaking or backed out too much and that your ISC is adjusted correctly.

I could have sworn I've typed this about 5 times this week.

It does that to get the engine up to operating temperature quicker. If you are worried about it, you can do the FIAV block off modification, or purchase a TB with it sealed off. But, what you are desribing isn't exactly a problem, as the car is supposed to do that. If your idle stayed that high consistantly, you'd have an issue.
