OK, I just put on my ported and polished intake manifold (gasket match on head side - 60mm on TB side). I do not have the Jeep hybrid TB done yet so I put the stock TB back on, but I ported out the "taper". I am working up to NOS as I get the parts. I am old style racer and this is my first entry into the "computer" car. There-in lies my problem; how the hell do these computers work  ? I now have an idle that maintains right around 2k. If this was carburated, I could easily fix this. I have not touched the idle stop on the TB (though it is very temting). I have checked for vacuum leaks in the items I put back together and have come up empty. The car can really breathe now that I have trimmed her nose hairs (even though I haven't done the header and cat yet - it seems to love the top end now). My accelerator cable is slack at stop and it previously idled very comfortably at around 600. I know that there is probably some kind of adjustment that I can make but ignorance makes that hard for me to answer. Any ideas from the wise computer folk out there?

I would assume you removed the sensors from the TB before you took to grinding away at it? I highly doubt this is a computer issue. 9 times out of 10 there is a vac line loose or cracked somewhere, or the IAC is just dirty and not actuating properly. Go over it again, backwards, and standing on your head. If that doesn't work, well, you've got some more trouble shooting to do. Good luck. Those are the most irritating problems to fix.

Double check all vaccum lines and your throttle body to ensure its on flush with the manifold. Stupid thought, but make sure your gasket is good between the manifold and the throttle body.

Yeah I hear yah, it may sound obvious but it is one of the first things I checked. I thought of vacuum leak immediately but could find nothing on first check. I guess I'll have to see if I hit something incidentally that is not associated with the install. Unfortunately, it might be one of those search and seizure missions.

Thanks

Just an update; I checked again on vac lines etc. Took TB off and looked down throat to see a bit of sunlight coming through. I put a junker TB on (stickey return spring) that I had and it brought the idle back down. Must have some how bent the the butterfly or the rod while taking apart (those two screws are tough to take out delicately OMG ) So I backed off idle stop screw on the "ported" TB and that allowed me to drop down to about 1100. This will hold me until I get my hybrid complete. I appreciate the input (that includes you also siueclipse). Thanks
