High Downforce eclipse body kit, gauging interest

We just didnt see the point in offering fake carbon. The stuff you see in the consumer market is fiberglass with one layer of carbon fabric on top. We only did offer REAL carbon for this. Which meant vacume bagged, oven cured, with a core material.

Yes, the good stuff and that's not cheap. Wish I had deeper pockets but that goes for most everyone.

I've made some progress on my car and thought the other fellows with the body kit (plus others on the forum) might like to see a couple things for ideas for their own cars. Perhaps how not to do things, haha... :)

First was a valve cover "cover" for protecting my spark plugs from water. For a little while at least my car will still be driveable on the street, and I will be driving the car to and from events, so I needed to make sure the huge vents in the hood don't pour water all over my COP. One of the vents is right over the valve cover. The pic is just the raw version (though I'm not sure I'll change it... maybe powdercoat it at some point?). It's just mounted with standoffs. Still has an air gap so air can get to the COP for cooling.

Second is the rear lower diffuser/wing. I constructed it per Andrew's pictures and I think it came out ok. I chose to use his design rather than re-invent the wheel because I'm not knowledgeable enough to reinvent the wheel, don't have the money to have someone develop a perfect diffuser for my car, and it wasn't very expensive to make (I got the Elise diffuser for $130 from a local Elise owner). I'll probably re-paint it with perhaps black Plastidip as the self-etching primer plus two coats of matte black paint didn't really hold and is chipping off. I'm not sure I like the rear slanted mounting aesthetics-wise, but generally everything's mounted fairly well, and it's removable for maintenance.

Free bump, hope you get some of these sold Drew. I remember last time I was deployed I read for hours on end about the initial fabrication process while it was going on. Now I'm deployed again.. joy, LOL. Car looks great! Congrats on everything :)

I can't get enough of these pics. When I get mine in...I'm gunna flood these forums with pics xD.

Just to update, this production run is finished and all the kits are sold. If there is enough interested people in the future to justify a small production cycle I will post again, but I think most everyone that would buy something like this just did. If you are interested in that, let me know I can keep a list together.

Let us know when you plan to put the kit that's on your Spyder now into production.

:sneaky:

I guess you mean his hard top...cause they is the kit he produced. Minus the top.

I think you definitely need to take another look if you seriously think that.

Rofl...you know its the same car right? The silver was his first design. He added to it and painted it white.

But thanks for the pics.

You need some glasses, those rear quarter flares are COMPLETELY different.

Jesus man. Believe it or not...its the same car...but through different phases.

Here: Douro Oni

It began as a land speed racer. Try to learn the history on the car.

I know the history on the car...please for the love of God, tell me where I said it was a different car. I am talking about the damn kit, from the picture he has posted on the front page announcing the kit to what is in his avatar has design changes, including a hard top, but not limited to it.

I want exactly what he has on his car now. Period.

And I merely informed you...that it IS what he produced. The kit that is on his car currently. Then you posted his old pics when it was silver. You called me out stating that perhaps my eyesight is failing.

I was clarifying if you meant to ask about his hard top. Since that was a part he didn't re-create.

If you want whats on his car in his avatar...which is the latest form of his car (as far as is released to the public) then that's what he was selling.

Where I am failing to understand is this. Are you perhaps wanting the rear quarter panels of the silver one? If so, thats not what he uses now...and I suppose I can see why you would make the request.

Ummmm you understand that everything he has now on the new white car design minus the hard top is included in this kit right ?

the silver was the first version, I don't think he will ever make a kit that includes the hard top either.

Hold on let me go out and check the kit I don't have to see exactly what it comes with. I still want the kit that is on his car now, including hard top and rear diffuser. I also would be more than willing to bet what is on his car now is not exactly what he is selling. It's like when Ferrari and Mercedes sell their F1 cars from two years ago to the other teams. Sure their new cars look close to the old ones, but they definitely don't give the other teams their newest and best designs.

I guess I give up then. The first reply I had....I said I thought you meant the hard top.

Take it easy.

OK, the kit for sale IS exactly what is in the car now. Exactly exactly. The diffuser was a fabricated piece. The hard top is not a production piece and will not be unless you write me a check for about $8k that it will take to make it one. It is a one off race car piece and would not work on car that needed window glass weather sealing, etc.

Ummm, I've never heard of that happening in F1.

Yes, but we had a set back, Im still working on it.
I look forward to seeing a production version of the hood Andrew, I guess I'll keep the sunfaded crap OEM one I've got until we get news on this; good or bad.

BTW, a little birdie told me that your Spyder was going to be at MOD in Cypress this Saturday. Is this true or just a myth since the car was having problems?
