If I was to get some projectors off ebay then install the hids into those how would the lighting be? Would it cause too much glare and would it light the road well?

"projectors off ebay" well... what kind of projectors? there are lots of projectors on ebay.

If you're talking about the HID projectors off of OEM systems from MB or Audi or whatever... yah, it'd work because the optics were specifically designed for HIDs. Some here has already done the conversion to their 2G. The trick is to install the projectors in a way that it allows you to aim them correctly so you don't have to max out your headlights adjustments to compensate.

I really don't see why the aftermarket industry doesn't gear up and produce full swap proper HID kits using the HID projectors. APC and others already produce aftermarket lights, it wouldn't be that hard to make some changes in CAD and produce a full OEM like HID replacement kit... with ballast mounting incorporated into the light housing just like the factory Audi A4 headlamps for example.
