the bad

so my questions are it took about 30 mins of on/off cranking to get it started.
i think its a weak fuel pump or it has a small leak and an air bubble might have formed.

might also explain why it stalls on stopping it doesnt get enough fuel

next is he said he put a 2g head on a 6 bolt 1g block.
he had the head studs hole drilled to take the larger 1g head studs since he has arp studs in it. could this be an issue and what problems does this cause

the tach stopped working after the head was rebuilt. could it be related to the 2g head or just a missed connector during the rebuild

Could be weak fuel pump throw a guage on there see what its at, if theres a 2g head on there its kinda funny that it still has a 1g intake mani.

Looks pretty good actually. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it and did it come with documentation for the work done?

no documents but i have seen pics of when he had the head off showing the wesco pistons and hearing it run i know its cammed.

the guy is on another car forum im from and we have both been members on for years.

i dont think he would have a reason to lie about it. he only sold it because his main car a 3000gt got sideswiped.

as far as porting the head im going to rip thru the car and fix everything i can find and do my own maint to it before i even drive it. this includes dropping in a whole set of aftermarket gauges for oil temp water temp a better boost gauge and fuel pressure. i like the defi style so i will prob go with the black face prosport

i paid 1900 plus some 3000gt parts

here is a video of it he took a while back. after getting it to crank over its how it sounded. he took the video on a cell phone to send me so the sound sucks. the engine has a little bit of normal mitsu noise i hear on all the other vids but it sounds like crap in the video when he is standing over the engine.

From what I can tell, the car looks to be pretty clean. Nice buy in that regard. As far as some of the issues, if it is in fact a 2g head, porting the head stud holes should NOT cause you any problems. There is a very small amount of material that needs removed to make that work. Some 2G heads actually will fit over 6 bolt studs but very very snug. So you should be able to rule that part out alteast. Good luck.

he told me the machine shop used the arp studs as guide to open the holes up. i just didnt know if the sensors or anything were different. and might be resonsable for stalling issue.

im going to check the isc, tps, biss, throttle adjustment, and the throttle cable adjustment

yeah but using a 2g head really is no performance gain at all, just better hope he ported the head to match the 1g intake cause if not you have a major air restriction.

You really have no idea what you are talking about here. A 2G head offers more low and midrange power due to the air having a faster velocity entering the combustion chamber. Also, if you port the 2G head to match the 1G intake, you are defeating the entire purpose of installing a 2G head in the first place. Do some reading before you post about this.

Maybe it's a 7-bolt head. The easiest way to check if it's a 2g head is to see if the thermostat housing is a 1g or a 2g, and the water pipe would be different, too. It wouldn't really run with a 1g manifold on a 2g head.

A 1g thermostat will bolt up to a 2g head I know I have one. I also have a 7bolt 1g head also that I ran but am ditching for my evo 3 intake 2g head combo.

ha ha i have, but thats when using a 2g mani or evo 3 mani to match that head with smaller ports if he used the bigger port mani on the small port head than there is no upgrade at all. just air restriction.

I believe I see your stalling issue. Is that bov recirculated?

yes it is recirculated. the hose is hard to see in the pic but its there

and the manifold head issue will be resolved with a magnus manifold and a fp exhaust housing
