well i have been having a issue with my boost spiking to 20+ psi before. Was told could be boost seliond so i just went ahead and got a mbc. Well its not spiking to 20 but still will shoot up to 18 WTF. i can not figur it out car has only intake tublar header and apexi turboback. Not having a frontmount is ###### not helping anything either . So i am agian at a brick wall here guys i will post a pic of the mbc hooked up maybe someone can shed some light on the subject.

OK update guys i did hook up the vac line running from turbo nipple to wastgate.

Good, now was that so hard?

Any thoughts on boost leak and seal problems gentlemen:hmm:

Fix them LOL

Are you sure you're burning oil? A huge boost leak will make the car run super rich, you might be seeing unburnt fuel. Run a boost leak test, first and foremost, to figure out where you're leaking from and see if the problem still persists.

haha yes i did that yuck ebay mbc :notgood:well you get what you paided for.As to update on boost leak/ i ended up changing the stock boost seilond and use the stock vac lines from the 96 tsi and worked alot better. Highest it hit was 14psi and it stay pretty much steady granted i didnt get into boost much but for the most part its seemed . Alot better as to the smoke problem its smokes slight on idle when you give it a blip in throttle it throws a little more out quick then thins out. I guess it could be maybe runnig rich or the seals are getting a little weak from all that overboost time no shaft play though which surpised me LOL. I have a air/fuel guage in the car mounted but i dont really know how to get it to work it was in the car when i bought it from my buddY never worked for him either i have to two wires but dont know what goes to what it is just a autometer narrowband but still would help.? Ideas:aha:

Maybe intake valve seals could be the culprit. How much smoke is there under full boost? Maybe have a friend ride behind ya one day to see.

As to the Autometer NB, are you wondering if they are worth hooking up? If that's the case, then it depends. If you want to entertain passengers with high tech shiny bling that they haven't a clue about, then yes. This would work great! Hook it up via the instructions and dazzle into a frenzy, anyone you pick up. :D

Seriously though, it's not really useful for anything. Maybe use it to tell you when the o2 sensor is going bad but that's about it, sorry. Auto Meter NB vs. WB
