Hello, I have a stock 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS that I need to replace the front brakes. The ones I bought from Orillys are junk they’re brakebest ceramics brand and their rotors just squeak even when not pressing the brakes and they’re only a month old. My mechanic removed them and saw one of the shims was making contact and he fixed it. The issue went away for exactly a week but now back to the same annoying noise. The splash shield is also not the issue.

Is there any solid brake pad brands you guys recommend along with some good rotors? I do daily the car in a curvy road so the car/brakes take their abuse but I don’t plan on racing or anything like that. I do have brake drums in the rear, but those are good. I’ve previously had the Import direct ceramics from Orillys in the past and those seem to be better noise wise than compared to the Orillys brakebest brand. But at this point I rather avoid those two pad brands at this point.

Thanks in advance

Fair point. I knew you were talking about a brand.

I run stock size brembo rotor blanks. Theyre coated and wear well. I picked a brand name non organic pad. Works fine for what I do.

Stock 2G AWD brakes. That's exactly what I was suggesting. For me it was a night and day improvement over what was on my car originally and I suspect the same would be true for any of the FWD cars RS to GST.

I concur. I went from single piston to 93 up awd brakes and it was significant. I dont make a habit of hard braking at 70mph up but sometimes. At that time I also tracked the car some at the dragstrip. I learned my lesson about road racing. Car needs to be prepared or stay off the track. Single piston 90 brakes have no business on a 2 mile road course.

I mostly quit buying over the counter awhile ago and buy online. On the older cars its orders of magnitude cheaper. For instance I stock up on windshield wipers at 3$ instead of 15 to 20. Brake pads online are very inexpensive.
Yeah over the counter I prefer in case I need to return or warranty, but I do research for sure because just a while ago I bought a wheel hub bearing on eBay for I think $100. That same exact model at Autozone was $225. That’s a huge difference.

Yeah your idea of upgrading to GSX brakes is cool. I just didn’t want to have to source old used parts especially for my RS I just wanted some solid replacements that weren’t noisy or complete junk.

I don’t plan on racing or crazy dead stops, but I do drive a sketchy curvy road so I drive carefully and avoid potholes the highest speed I hit is probably 50mph. On the open road I usually keep it below 80 mph more like 75mph. But I mostly drive this car to work and don’t go over 50-60 but the road still takes its toll on my car/brakes.
