Hello everyone. I am trying to get my car to idle decently (2.0L, 9.0:1 pistons, eagles, FIC850 Injectors) I want to insert my most recent log file, but I don't know if I can here.
What I'm dealing with is very lean rough idle. I've turned off idle, and lambda feedback, and ign trims, and am trying to adjust my VE and idle base position to hit my targets. Timing is more or less locked at 10 BTDC. The issues I'm having is that I need to have my VE way up around 85% to approach my Lambda target, while adjusting the base position all the way to 0 only to still be more than 500 rpm above target. If I increase the base position above 15 then it surges beyond the idle cut over and over. Even though a VE of 85% gets me roughly on target (14.5), my lambda is rapidly fluctuating from 13.2 and 15.8 or so, and the idle is quite rough. The engine smooths out if I tap the throttle, and lambda seems to settle to a more consistent value until it approaches idle again

My first thought is that I have a vacuum leak, but I can't find any exposed ports or anything. I'm pretty sure my intake mani is sealed on the gasket properly. Are there any problem vacuum ports that tend to get missed? I've already checked all on top and by the throttlebody, and did my best to check underneath.
Any other ideas of what it could be?

This car did idle smoothly on the same ECU and injectors before I pulled the motor. Also I DO have fresh gas in it.

You say this because you've actually done a BLT & found no leaks? There's lot of modifying tables related to the idle calibration besides the basic ignition & fuel.

I haven't done a leak test, I don't believe I have the equipment to. I am thinking vac leak could be the culprit because the car used to idle nicely on pretty much the same setup (just 8.5:1 pistons), in pretty much the same weather, and the exact same ECU settings. However, upon first startup after rebuild my idle was 1000 rpm above target and even large changes the idle base position does very little to the RPM. (At 70% rpm shoots for about 2100, and at 0% it goes to about 1550.) But its certainly just conjecture at this point.
Which modifying tables should I check?

It sounds like you have a vaccum leak, either to the outside, or across the throttle plate. FIAV taken a shit?

It's also possible you have injector dead time adjustments to make. Not enough dead time will make it very lean at low pulse width.

Thank you DSMPT and bastarddsm. I'm pretty sure I'm uploading my log file with this. The major changes in Lambda were caused by me making major adjustments to the idle VE table during the log, I also changed the idle base position from 30 to 5 over the course of this log. I'm pretty sure my injector dead times are correct. I plugged them into the ECU straight off the data sheet FIC gave me, and it used to idle nicely with those numbers.

How would I check if my FIAV is the problem?

Hey everyone. Thanks again for helping me get this sorted. I built a leak tester out of a balloon and an old vape.

It looked like a large leak was coming from the bottom of the manifold where the gasket seals.
When I pulled off the intake this is what I found.

Must've been an installation error on my part. I found that broken piece on top of the intake valves.
Fortunately I had an extra intake gasket around, but it wasnt in perfect shape, so I decided to spray both sides with some of this before installing.

Now upon followup smoke test, I don't see any leaks. I have yet to run the car again to confirm, but I'm pretty confident this was the issue.
Thanks again everyone :)

Don't you go with a metal intake manifold gasket or a thermal gasket?
