Hi, my car suddenly died on Thurday night while I was about to make a left hand turn. It happened while I was letting off the clutch to start moving in first. it cranks but doesn't start. checked for spark and found none, got a reader today and I pulled P0335. I've been searching this site for P0335 and similar posts for the past 3 hours and while I have found what to test for I can not find an answer for my question. I have battery voltage at the red wire, 5.02 volts at the blue/white, and 6 ohms at the black wire. Now when cranking my reading at the blue/white wire goes up to 5.07 volts, what does this mean since 0 volts means the CPS is dead? I don't want to throw a crank position sensor at it and I have no known good ECU to swap which is why I am trying to properly diagnose this. I really dont want to spend more this than I have to as I was planning on selling the vehicle this week.

To test this code, have a visual inspection of the location and wirings of the crank sensor. If the engine has a cam sensor, you might mistook it as the crank sensor (it is a good idea to contact ATS that can research this for you). Check the sensor wires for insulation making sure it is getting a voltage signal as shown in the wiring diagram. Sometimes, the wires itself is soaked with dirty oil causing the sensor to fail. If OK, check the engine timing belt system for any slack which can also cause the sensor to throw in the code. If all of these prove OK, remove the crank sensor and check it for resistance as compared to the standard specs. Lots of times, if the sensor probe end is contaminated with oil or cracked, this can only be revealed after the crank sensor is removed.
