help transfercase

i cant get the bottme two bolts in my transfer case.
for what ever reson every bolt goes in by hand without the transfer case on but when it is on the bottme two will not go in one long and one small but if i take the long one and put it in the short hole it goes right in anyone know what to do or ever run into this before?

The bolts screw into the transmission by hand, but do they slide though the transfercase all the way too?

Take the transfer case off an put the bolt all the way in. (until it bottoms out). If it works, then you have the bolt in the wrong hole?

If not, then you stripped the hole.
