Im looking into trading my 96 civic slow single cam for a 1g tsi awd with plenty of mods.

Heres the deal though, it developed some sort of knock recently. Its been parked ever since he first heard it knock.
it doesnt knock at idle, sounds perfect. He said it only seems to develop this knock after about 3krpm.

Ive had a 2g do this to me before. It happened to be the balance shafts. I eleminated it and noise went away.

He told me if I liked it I could pull the oil pan off and check whats going on.
Id like to pick it up if it is just balance shafts. The car is VERY clean exterior and interior.

it has 2 flywheels LOL jk, go take a like at it and see what it sounds like maybe pull the pan. Are you doing a straight up trade

Receipts & Photos on build & parts! Sounds like a  guy, I would go take a look at what we got. Drive it, Listen, and as mention above, pull the pan. You will be able to tell, if you drop the pan and play with the bottom end. :tease: Trade for a Honda to DSM, any day!

Sounds like a timing belt tensioner bearing to me. :dunno: My rod knock stayed knocking even on idle but pull the pan and double check everything. Check the oil for metal shavings. Either way, sounds like a good trade

Hondas are great for gas. That's all my civic is for, great mpg. I do still have a 2g But I don't daily it.
I figured it would be a good pick up. And if I can fix it cheap I'll have the better car.

Heres some pictures of the car.
Blury but gets the job done.

Very late update. I found out the real story of the car. I got ahold of one of the owners friends and he told me everything. The guy ran it out of oil and it seized up. He said they put oil in the cylinders and let it sit for a while. After they let it sit for a while they all pushed the car and tried to jump start it and
Broke it free again.

No, I actually met up with a guy to buy a Ecu and that guy just happened to be his best friend. He told
Me everything about it. After he told me everything he told me to still go check it out cause its still a nice car. Wasn't worth trading for in my opinion after I heard that story.

At the moment I got offered a 2ga gst with a 6 bolt swap. Has a few mods like 14b turbo, fmic, apexi downpipe, and apexi n1 catback.
