The lights are out in all 4 of my climate control knobs; Mitsu and Chrylser discontinued, of course, and I have checked with all the usual suspects. Does anyone have a sure source for these? (I have 324,000 miles on my "90 TSI AWD which I have had since new, and these are the only parts that I just can't locate!)

Thanks in advance for your counsel!

Part number is MB609167; they are 14V, 1.4W bulbs and there are only 2 of them lighting up the climate controls. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/158918-dash-lights.html. They still look available through JNZtuning.com and, if that is the case, the dealership should be able to get a hold of them as well.

BTW, congratulations on reaching that mileage. That is impressive just as much as you being the original owner. :thumb:

Thanks Much, 19;

I will try them directly.. and if their price is reasonable, I'll buy a dozen! (Nothing worse then trying to find those controls in the dark..) The dealers around here are not very enthusiastic and their mark-ups are outrageous.

Thanks for the compliment; I put a lot of $ into this vehicle over the years, but there is nothing out there that I feel is a comparable replacement.. at least that I can afford.

Hi, I've run into this same problem myself.

I've solved it by buying some SAAB dash bulbs (Part# 12768303). I purchased mine off of eBay and took a Dremel tool to cut the notch that the original ones had in the plastic housing. The new bulb/plastic housing will fit as is new, but I wanted to add the notch back to have it lock in place a little better.

I also took the orange filters off and put them on the new bulbs. I didn't have to remove the new bulbs from the housing thankfully to install the filter.

The specs on the bulbs should anyone figure out where we can get wheat bulbs is:
Type: Wheat Bulb
Diameter: 4.61mm
Voltage: 14v
Wattage: 1.4

The original bulb diameter is 4.61mm and the new SAAB one is 4.85mm. The pictures I've attached are of the new bulbs/plastic housing unmodified next to the old original ones.

I hope this can be of help for the rest of our community on this.
