So I have a one way rivalry with my wife's cousin. I want to beat him at our local 1/8 miles strip, but I'm not even on his radar.

Here's his car and set up:
2002 Trans Am ws6. Scoggin Dicky short block, forged rods and pistons, ported heads, MS3 cam, NOS wet plate kit with a 200hp shot, 3600 stalll, 578hp/520tq. Best 1/8th mile et is a 6.920 @ 104.62mph

(He beat that GTR by .11 sec)

We raced last year and my best 1/8 mile time was 8.9xx @ 78mph. but I was running a stock 02 housing, stock downpipe, stock SMIC with stock IC piping, stock injectors, stock fuel pump, only 7psi of boost on my small 16g because of fuel cut. The only mods I had at the time was a 1g BOV, FP intake w/ K&N fpik, tubular exhaust manifold, and a HKS catback.

I recently bought a 3" turbo back but I'm having fitment issues (see my thread on that.) My thoughts for additional parts are as followed:

20g turbocharger (unless you think I can run 6's with my 16g)
VRSF or PR FMIC
bigger fuel injectors (thinking 1000cc because I'll have link)
Wally 255 pump
ECMLink V3 (lite or full?)
Cams (no clue yet)
new exhaust manifold (the 20g doesn't bolt up to stock fitment does it?)
What else?

So go ahead and rip my list to pieces and tell me what will really work because I'd rather have dsm guys make fun of me rather than LSX guys make fun of me. I just really want to beat this guy with a 4 cylinder.

NOTE: IF YOU LIVE CLOSE TO MO AND HAVE A FASTER CAR THAN 6.9 I'D LOVE TO SEE *ANY* DSM BEAT HIM, EVEN IF IT'S NOT MINE. Our strip will open up again in a couple of months.

LOL, c'mon man! I know you can help me!

If I beat him, I'll write a new song!

Gotcha, I looked and saw 94TSiAWD ran a 6.5 with a 16g

That's good news :D

thats almost a low 10sec car..i had one similiar..he will cut 1.3-6 60ft spraying out the whole..you will need a low 10sec car to beat it..he probly will lift the wheels while doing it

You need a couple years of expirence before you build a sub 7 sec 1/8th car. Good luck.

I hope you have deep pockets, its going to take a lot to build your car to compete with his and not blow up.

If I do it, I'm going to do it right. I just may be 53 years old before it's done that's all. haha

Looks intimidating and there will be probably shit talking, but it can be done.

16g is gonna need work with high compression and e85 to extract the full potential. with you, you are probably still stock compression? i would suggest investing on a 35r or xh40 and ecmlink v3. Use nos, to help spool/top end.

Then, strip the car off, when you race him(put back later). remove passenger seat, spare tire, etc... The key is lightest possible with good power. with a light car, even if you can't manage to produce the same power as him, the weight will make up the difference. I am guessing the trans am is probably weight 3495-3517 lbs(coupe), 3700lbs with driver. Its not who can make the most horsepower, its who can make his car efficient. like motor(power), car(weight), driver(skills) efficiency.

form reading your post, he(trans am) probably spend more than $6,000 but you can spend much less to beat him im sure.

I know this is going to be hard, guys. And expensive. But I have two things going for me:

1. It's only an 1/8 mile track
2. I don't have to beat him next week; I've got my whole life. I just want to see my dsm beat him ONCE. Or any dsm willing to travel to Sikeston, MO on a friday night for that matter.

I also forgot to mention I have a stock tranny, that'll have to go. I know I'm nowhere close to this guy, but think of me as a clean slate. I know my car has the potential to beat him.

The guy who drives the T/A isn't exactly modest, either. Here's his most recent FB post: "The white automobile I own isn't called a car it's called BAFAHTAF aka (bad ass fast as hell trans am FOOL!!!)"

 see why I'd like to beat him?

Send him to utah...We'll take care of his V8 syndrome :)

This is the reason that i have a sticker on my car that says "Thats a nice chevrolet...Im sorry about your little penis"

LOL, if only Utah was next to MO...

OP, i don't think you understand what it's going to take to beat that T/A.

He's making 578whp through a stalled auto, which means he's making about 690hp. To put it in perspective, he's both quicker and faster than a ZR-1 in the 1/8th mile.

Also, your post about it only being an 1/8 mile is comical. You seem to think you have the launch advantage, when in reality, if he's running a stalled auto with slicks and decent suspension, chances are he will match or out-launch you.

He will pull harder down low, there's no getting around it. It would be easier to beat him in 1/4 mile race, as stalled autos don't pull as hard on the back half.

A DSM that runs his 1/8 times is a solid 10.5@135 car. You'll need slicks and 500+whp to even think about playing with that T/A. Forget a 20G, start thinking 35R, dual pumps, 1400cc injectors, big cams/valvetrain, SMIM, very large FMIC, etc.

You'd be better off building a stalled auto DSM if you're looking for performance in the first 1/8 mile.

This.

Sounds like you should look up the forum rules about bench racing... And perhaps learn to walk before you run... etc. Not trying to burst your bubble but you'll need much more seat time and mod's to beat this car. Good luck though.

T3 GT35R T3 exhaust manifold, ID 2000 injectors, E85 and a built trany will net you over 500 HP and I would think that would be enough for a low 10 second pass as im sure thats were the TA is at.
I put the TA at 10.50s in the 1/4.

That is an awsome goal, I truely hope you accomplish it. I think he would start to cry seeing a DSM pass him!
