Help....Is my ECU good?

well to make a long story short, i just rebuilt my entire motor and the car has been running for about a week, driving about 2 days.

I got my hands on an EPROM ECU from a buddy of mine, as far as he knows, its good. Well i really want to order a DSM Chip to compensate for my 650's and just because everything i hear about them is great, the cars always idle and drive awesome under part throttle.

But anyways, tonight i just plugged in the ECU and the car started, although i havent driven with that ECU in my car yet. Is the fact that the car started and ran enough to say that the ECU is good, or do i really need to drive on it first?

PS, i dont wanna test the ECU under boost because i have about 50 miles on the new engine, and running on 650's unfortunately (cant get lower injector seals for the 450's) Im very afraid that im running rich and dont wanna wash things out.

I've been playing with the SAFC for a day or too and my low trims are at about 90%, med at about 112% and high at about 102%

If it starts and runs fine at idle then it should be more than good to go once you add Jeff's chip. I'm in the same boat as you (waiting for my 550 chip to arrive) and I second your idea not to drive it pig rich and wash down the oil. If you've never put in a chip before, Jeff will let you know which way the notch should face or I can take a snap of mine tomorrow when I pull it for the install.

I keep forgetting you have a 1G so let me add that it would be a great idea to check all of your caps and make sure you don't have any leaking.

If you need the ECU socketed have whoever does it check the entire ECU out for you. I do that on any ECU I get in for repairs or socketing. Like Andy said replace the caps if they are original.

would you be interested in socketing and checking my ECU for me? Once i get the chip and the socket i could send you the parts, and i'll buy the caps if you need me too, or if you have them you can just charge me for them...let me know, thanks
