Does anyone know how much this will cost to fix, also if the internals of the engine are jacked up? I know its hard to tell by not looking at the car, but any info is better than NO info.

Patch it up with JB Weld. How did this happen anyways?
You Can't be serious. :notgood: JB weld has potential to fix small cracks in blocks and thats about it. Its not meant to fix a 6 in hole in the block

Hahah, beat me to it, I was just about to say that he needs to be clear that hes joking about that cause...that crap is screwed. Time to start saving money to get a new block...probably internals too =(.

And how did you do that on an NT...

There is no helping that block. But like everyone else, I must know how the hell did you do that? I worked for a guy who raced an alcohol rail dragster and I've never seen a block with that much damage even when he broke the crank.

WTF How do things like this happen to engines? WTF Please, explain exactly how that happened. Let me know so that way I can AVOID your pain, agony, and heartache LOL!

how did it happen? i have no F'ing clue! there was a knock in the engine, i had to drive this chick home, * she was really hot* LOL here is her modelig pic. anyway it kept geting louder and louder, then BOOOM!! it started smoking, but when i gave it gas it stil went, a couple of seconds later another BOOM. Then it just died. do you think the head is f'ked?

I see stock airbox and intake. It must have been abused hard, very, very hard.

I dont think she's worth the agony of going through the stresses of removing/re-installing a motor, not to mention the cash involved, UNLESS, she's willing to offer "moral support". :sneaky: (she is pretty fine tho) OMG

she is offering moral support :), i know not enough to take the engine appart, but since its ####ed ill take the head off and ill c from there.

That musta been embarassing...LOL. Damn NT's is the problem. When I started going out with my current g/f I was taking her home and got a flat tire the first week or so. Had to stop at a gas station at like 12pm lookin like a bum workin on it...LOL. Come to find out it was some of my "friends" who had let some air out of my tire...

Oh well, good luck on that there, and I hope I never have that happen =). GL!

Ouch. Yeah that's a rod through the block. The second guys looks like the rod knocked the balance shaft out the side of the block. The crappy thing is that more times than not when you loose a rod you also loose the crank which just so happens to be very f***'n expensive. I'd rather loose a timing belt and destroy a head and pistons than have a rod shoot out the block.

Anyways. Since it's a N/T I wouldn't even really bother with it. Or you can do the Turbo Swap and have some fun boostin. Sorry to hear the news though.

edit: Opps it's a 2G. NM then. I'm sure you can find a 420A as they are plentyful. I would fix a NT 2G. Then I would sell it and get a GSX or TSI AWD. Good luck

You probablly let the oil get to low. Eventually the bearings will seize to the crank causing that horible tick of death you heard. Eventually it will just sieze the rod and crank together and the rest of the pistons are going down no mater what so guess what happens? SNAP the rod breaks and comes out the side of the block. There's nothin you can do about it, the motor is FUBARD and there isn't anything that can be saved.

Hoenstly it would be the cheapest to put a whole new motor in. If you get just a block you'll pay more in labor to do a head gasket studs, timing belt waterpump etc etc etc to get it back running. Just get a wrecker motor complete and pay for a swap. Motor shouldn 't be too expensive and about $500 for the labor on the swap.

Yeah mine was just shear stupidity. Had a new setup on the car and it wasn't doing anything funny, but my pocketlogger was not working for some odd reason, but since it was running so well I decided to go ahead and spray 100 shot to it...pop pop bam! And I used to always complain about people spewing oil on the track, that time I was the one that did it. :( Took it home only to find the balance shaft sticking out of the back and there was half of my rod laying in the middle of the track. But hey, it was still running even with a hole that big, I just had to shut her down!

Good luck with getting a new motor though- to the poster. And as dsmjim said, it will be a million times easier and alot cheaper in the end just to get another whole engine and put in there. 420a can be found cheaper. Only way I would do a block and put it in is if you wanted to put a built motor in.

im hoping the head is not f'kd. cuz if its not then ill buy a built up bottom end from exilaracing, unless someone has a better site. and drop that in along with the head, if the head is f'kd i might have to get a long block put in and it probably will be all stock :( im still considering all my options.

why would you put a built bottom end in that car? Fix it to stock form and learn how to properly drive & maintain an automobile.

sounds to me like it was run low on oil.

It could have been damage surfacing from the previous owner. It could have had an oil pump failure. You cant ASSUME this is the owners fault except I would stop driving if my car ever was not functioning properly. I have seen several of these recently develope rod knocks and then toss rods through the block. I think the rod bolts are weak from factory and stretch easy even under factory redline when run hard.

Don't waste your time putting a built bottom end in there unless you have plans to go turbo, which it doesn't look like since you seem to be tight on cash as it is since the head will be the deciding factor on which bottom end you get it looks like. Just go on ebay, spend $700 on a used motor and drop it in.

i do want to go turbo later on, does anyone know where i can buy a built up end, exept for from exhilaracing.com???
