Alright fellow DSMers, I've got a serious problem. In the last month with the help of this website, I've upgraded to a 16g turbo, mishmoto radiator, new exhaust manifold, upper and lower dejon ic pipes, 3" downpipe, 3" catback exhaust system, sparks/wires. And my car was still performing like crap, so i decided to take it to a mechanic. He told me my head gasket were blown, even though I had this engine "supposedly' rebuilt by a shady ass mechanic less than a year ago! which is why i decided to start doing things myself. Unfortunately, i just lost my house and my garage so i have no place to work on my car. So my question is this...
With my current specs, what gasket should i get? Does anyone know of a DSM friendly garage I can work in to fix my gaskets? (inland empire) Also, I have No clue where to begin on fixing my head gaskets. Are there any forums or VFAQ.com "how to" articles? Has anyone gone to RRE to have them fix their gaskets and if so, what were the cost?? Sorry for all the questions at once.

^ Yes, does your car's exhaust smoke out anything?
If you're running a 16g with high boost and you got no supporting fuel mods, then your car is going to run like crap.
Do you have any exhaust leaks?
That may also cause the poor performance.
All of the following happened to me.
Then I added new fuel mods and fixed all exhaust leaks.
It runs like a beast now.

Yes, that gasket is one of the good ones. If there's no smoke coming from your exhaust then the head gasket could be still good. Do you see any leaks from the engine where the head gasket is?

Cylinder leak down test.
It'll tell you everything you need to know.

Otherwise throw in some ARPs, make sure your block deck isn't warped and your head isn't warped.
Even though I highly recommend getting them resurfaced - it all depends on your financial situation.

it gets hot if it sits? do the cooling fans come on? are you using alot of coolant? are the spark plugs ashy with deposits? is there coolant in the oil? is there white smoke in the exhaust? dont believe everything these "shops" tell you. maybe it's a bad thermostat, it could be sticking. do you have heat? there are alot of things to check before you go tearing apart an engine, especially if you dont know where to start. it is a big job, with a lot of room for error.
