not too long ago i had my engine rebuilt and then soon after i was having issues with my car starting to overheat. i found that one of my radiator hoses had a hole in it. i replaced it and then soon after another hose burst. this solved the over heating issue, but after that i noticed that i took longer and longer for my car to crank up. keepin mind that my never over heated past the 3/4's mark on the temp gauge. one day after work whilde driving home there was a noticeable pop sound and then my car started overheating again. when i got home i noticed that yet another hose had sprang a leak. i replaced that hose and then the next day i tried to crank my car up and then i wouldn't crank up but the engine would turn over. i did a compression test and it read 60 30 30 60. could this mean that the head gasket is blown and what could have caused it considering the fact that my car never overheated past the 3/4's mark on the temp gauge? any help would greatly be appreciated cause i'm at the point to where i want to give up on my car even though i love it so much. oh yeah! it's a 91 talon tsi awd. thanks for your time guys.

its not normal for all of them to be low like that whena gasket blows, usually its just 1 or 2 cylinders..when you say rebuilt, just the bottom end or the head to? sure the timing belt didnt slip and tickle some valves?

when i had the engine rebuilt it was due to the fact that if had overheated and messed up seven of the valves in the head and two of the pistons. as far as the timing belt slipping and tickling some of the valves, i have no idea cause i don't have the time to actually go under the hood and take a look because of school, work, and newborn baby. i want to take it back to the shop that did the work on my car but they're trying to tell me that i don't have a warranty on my engine because it's "race engine", yet there is nothing race about the engine. the engine is stock. n e wayz! so if some of the valves are mess up then that might be the reason why the compression is that low on all the valves?

very well could be, it may have slipped enough to just tap them a bit so they dont seat all the way...when they put it back together did they use a new tensioner? barely bent valves are hard to diagnose.. :thumbdown

did you have the gas floored when you did the test as well as letting it turn over at least 4 times?
