I was driving home tonight, and stop at a red light. Out of the blue, when I get going again, there is a clicking/knocking noise coming from the engine bay. No CEL, no warning lights at all. It was making a god awful noise, only when I got on the gas. I pull into a gas station a couple miles down the road, and pop the hood. Reved it up a bit with the throttle cable, and could here it again.... Can't pinpont where it's coming from exactly. .... I start driving again, and notice that I hear it in 1st gear once I get up to 2k, 2nd gear I wont hear it till about 3k, and by 5th gear, I cant hear the noise at all..... Throughout all the gears though, I DO hear it when I press the clutch petal in..... I'm really worried  .... Any ideas of what it is? If the internals were !&^@ up, wouldn't it make the noise at all speeds? Can't see to well now, I'm gonna let her sit over night and see whats goin on in the morining. Could it be a clutch problem since I hear it when I press the clutch petal? BUt if that were the case, then why do I hear it in 1st once it gets up to 2K RPM.... and then again in 3rd at 3K RPM?

Ideas, suggestions and help is welcome.

Thanks ALot.

And by the way, I can't really feel anything different, its just that noise.

Yup, the oil pan was dropped, and it ain't pretty. Looking around for a short block I can afford, and send the head out to get machined. All in all, I think this will be the cheaper route. But, where to get a good price on a short block is what im not sure about at this point.

I'm hoping thats not the case with mine. But just in case it is.. I've posted on the various yahoo groups that I am in.. being in California.. I Think it would be a little easier for me to find a good conditioned bottomend. I would just try to look around locally if I were you.. just start asking around.. at local meets and stuff like that. good luck man.. I'll let you know if I find any good places online.
