Recently I have noticed a ticking/clicking noise coming from the timing belt area in my stock 99 GSX, and dont know what to do. I originally thought that maybe i just need to have all the belts changed, but my car only has 42,000 miles on it. (either way i get the feeling i still may need to do this). I have also heard plenty of times that we have "loud lifters", but noise seems a lot louder than just our average lifters. Could it be that I just need some new Idler and Tensioner bearings like the ones advertised in the vendor section? I am getting very upset and am half afraid of driving it now because i dont want to break a timing belt or something. Help me! What do i do? thanks in advance everyone -jammer :dsm:

Ok, well I guess I am going to order those on Friday and hope for the best. Thanks for the help! -jammer

Before you go and order anything, maybe you should take off all of your accessory belt first and run it to see if maybe it's just a belt that could be making the noise.
If you do that and it's still there, take off the T-Belt cover and start the car again and listen to where it's coming from...
Last but not least, check your crankshaft endplay....
