Heater hose connections

Quick question regarding the heater hoses. I recently removed by heater and am left with the heater hoses that went to the heater core. Do these need to be looped with good flow? Right now I just hooked up one of the hoses to where the other one went, but this kinks the hose some. Is this okay or is that flow built into the design of the system? Thanks.

It would be best if they were looped, but it's not required on a 2g thermostat housing. There will still be flow. You might want to port the housing a bit to encourage adequate flow. You have to keep them looped if you'd be using a 1g thermostat housing.
