Does anyone have any tips on removing the head studs, I have stock head studs with the 10 mm allen head. I tried with a ratchet with the allen socket. They were stuck and wouldnt come out. Just wondering if anyone has any tips?

when we did ours I bought the craftsman allenhead socket and put it on the drive with a long pipe on the ratchet and they broke free. You will hear a snap sound when the break free. Just make sure u keep the ratchet straight so u don't strip the heads out.

Good luck.

or take an allen key tap it into the hole nice and good with a hammer or mallet or something then attach a boxed end wrench to it for leverage and carefully carefully turn it... that's how we do all things allen key related at work

PB Blaster my friend... PB Blaster

That suff works like none other. Im shure it could tackle your problem. Sold at your local Advance Auto Parts, Napa, Auto Zone, Walmart, just about anywhere.

make sure it is the right size allen head too. you do not want to round the head on that bolt.

Well, I stripped my allen socket on the last center bolt.

Ideas so far are:
Drill (reliable, but expensive for bits and time consuming)
Grind (more material to remove)
Easy-out (probly not - too much torque)

Sears rounded-nut removers (basically sockets with reverse spiral edges to grab outer surface)

Anyone else successfully got past this?

Do a search on ebay, I remember seeing a stud remover tool when I was looking for carbide burrs.

Just took $60 for a stripped bolt remover, impact edition , on sale at sears.
Highly reccomended. Wanna see pics? let me know, maybe I'll take em.

I'd like to see pics/link of what you used to extract the bolt in case I ever need to.
Thanks

What wrong with putting two nuts on the stud and locking them together and then using a socket to back the stud out?

cause it's a head stud (that uses an allen socket for one). nuts won't screw onto the top of it.
