Okay, so I sheared a few studs off the Talon the other day trying to get the wheels off. Well I knocked the ones outta the back fairly easily. But now I cannot get the hub off of the front so I can pop the studs out. I was told by 2 different shops, that there are 4 bolts on the back of it that go through the dust shield. While I was on the phone I was looking there, and there isn't 4 bolts. One of my mechanic friends came and looked at it, and said I could get it off with a slide hammer and a hub attachment, or just take the whole spindle assembly off and take it to a shop to have them press it off. So far I have only gotten as far as taking off the steering arm bolt, and the bushing won't let it drop out of the arm on the spindle. So is there any other way to do this? Oh yea, I loosened the nut on the lower control arm, but there's hardly any room to get a wrench or anything. And once again, the bushing is preventing the control arm from falling out of the way. I haven't even tried the two upper bolts...

BTW this is a 93 TSi AWD

If you haven't tried smacking one of the studs with a hammer; you should. You may just be surprised at how easy they come out.

Take the wheel off (and disk if you can), put the lug nut back on (tight, but not tight against the hub- and not so tight a girlie couldn't turn it with her little girlie fingers!) and smack it in the face. The trick is to have room to pop the stud out the back side.

I don't have ABS, but I have replaced some of the wheel studs on my car and I think you can get some of them out with the brake disks still on (if thats the problem). As for the hub, I don't think theres a need to take that off if thats what your thinking... I could be wrong, but I didn't have to remove my hub to replace the studs with my GSX.

Lube accordingly. :)
