So I am finally getting around to changing my head gasket and timing belt, and also my water pump while I am at it. I just wanted to check with you guys that I am getting everything i need for this so I am not stuck without parts I may need to replace the day of the project. Anything else you would recommend replacing in the process as well?

1. Felpro Head Gasket set.
2. Head studs. Will the Felpro head studs be sufficient or do I need to get them from the dealer since they fixed the problem with the long head stud that is known to bottom out?
3. Duralast timing belt and other accessory belts.
4. Duralast water pump
5. Thermostat
6. Spark plugs

Also, I have read that I need to rent a 3 claw 5 ton puller to get the crank pulley off? Is this correct and can it be found at Autozone? Any other tools i'll need to rent as well?

Let me know if I am forgetting anything. Thanks for the help fellas!

Dude, you are rolling a dice with those duralast parts. For critical engine parts, such at timing belt and waterpump. You should be going OEM parts from mitsu. Also an oil pump would be a good idea too.

^Yeah, I was wondering which parts I should get from the dealer and which ones would be ok to pick up from Autozone. Should the Felpro parts be ok then get the rest from the dealer? I just don't want to get bent over by the prices at the dealer from parts that would be ok to use from Autozone.

pulleys timing components, ive used lots of belts from differrent places not oem, never a problem water pump 40 bucks advanced thousands of miles on 2 dsms, no problems. There is a good thread on maintenance parts here and others opionons.

Timing components from autozone ... Autozone is were you buy your bulbs break cleaner ... your 1g alternators if you like changing them often... Random soda's

Do your self a favor if you like your car buy dealer timing components or the blue belt .:thumb:

Head Gasket. OEM. All other gaskets fel-pro is fine

Head studs: OEM or ARP.

Timing belt and components: OEM or Gates

Skimping on any of these parts will make for a bad day in the near future. Do it right the first time and you will come out a lot cheaper in the end.

Water pump. What ever you find cheapest. I personally Use topline but its a pretty basic part so I wouldn't worry about the brand

while your removing the cams for the seals might as well change out the lifters for the revised ones *that is if you have the nasty tick* I'm thinking of doing my lifters when I go into the head
