I'm getting ready to do a timing belt change and was wondering what else I should do while on that side of the motor...........
Here is the list so far

Timing belt
Timing belt tensioner
Tensioner pully
Idler pully
Balance shaft belt
Balance shaft tensioner
Water pump
Tstat
Accssesory belts

Also what should I change or look out for because the car has 157k on it

New Mitsu Rad Cap, Upper and Lower Rad hoses, and all of the little hoses associated turbo cooling system....
If you give me your VIN, I can get every single part number for from my CAPS system....

Have you considered doing the balance shaft removal? I have heard that there is minimal addition in vibration, plus people report the engine seems to rev faster minus that revolving mass. Plus you never have to worry about the Balance Shaft belt breaking and taking out your T-belt.

Right, but people also swear of the negavtive side effects of BS removal. There are lots of threads on the subject and you might want to read up on it before you decide to pull them.

I only yanked mine out because I f'd the bolt to put it back in up.

As for side effects, I haven't felt any yet, but I have only driven my car like 1k miles after I yanked them.

I've got about 5k on mine since I did them, and it's a good thing, cuz the rear BS bearing was showing signs of galling (SP).

Other than a slight vibration at idle, I don't feel anything at 3 - 4k like everyone says, but I do hear a different noise right at 6k.... other that that, there are no other side effects that I'm aware of....

Also, the Balance Shafts have nothing to do with balancing the crank or any stupid thoughts like that.

They are simply there to cancel out the second order ocillations of 4cyl 2.0L or greater displacement engine.

Simply put, they cancel the vibes between the engine and the chassis, and you feel less vibes in your butt....
Why do you think Mitsu calls them "Silent Shafts".

Most of this was done when the new turbo was put in.

No I'm just keeping her running until I get my new motor built next spring.
