Im in the process of putting my timing belt back on. Before I took it off and had everything lined up at TDC, my camshaft sprockets were about a tooth off from each other. So I went ahead and started my car up to verify in deed that my car could run like that. It started right up just like it always has. So Im thinking that perhaps the person before me might of put it on a tooth off, either accidently or was lazy after trying to get them lined up and couldnt.

My question is, since my car ran fine with the camshaft sprocket marks a tooth off, should I reinstall them that way? It makes sense to me to do it that way? Any input would be appreciated?? Im trying to get this done today :) Thanks in Advance!

It may run ok but the marks are there for a reason. You just changed the overlap of the cams and that will change the way the car drives. It may be very little but it shoudl be changed to the correct way.

Thanks, I will line my camshafts with the original marks...see how that goes. Man it is a real pain in the a@# to put that belt on!! Its my first time, but after a couple of tries im getting better! Thanks again

**Update**

I just finished with the timing belt, finally after about 2 hours messing around with it, I had it aligned perfectly. I alinged the marks to their original position, got in my car and she started right up. Yay!
