Head gasket problem. Help

Ok so I was heading to the mall and looked down and coolant temp was fine then about two minutes later it was overheated needle to the top. I pulled over to check and my hoses were filled with pressure and overflow bottle sounded like it was bubbling. So I checked it after it was cooled down. And there was maybe a contact case amount of antifreeze in it and it was sorta brownish. I talked to a buddy and he said I was in the early stages of a blown hg. I asked a shop what kind of hg I should get and he said cometic mls. But my friend and everyone else says not to. I am currently running 22 psi at 409 hp. What should I do? I looked on others with head gasket problem but they say different stuff. I have a 62mm precision turbo. Please help.

If the block has not been recently decked, stay away from a MLS HG.

Grab the OE or Felpro Composite (9627PT)

If you check some you will see where the OE and Felpro have gone 500hp and 30psi+

Have you found what caused the coolant issue?

A blown HG is not the cause of a problem, but the result of one.


Have the head checked for warp.

I plan checking for warping. I haven't done anything yet to fix it just deciding what I plan on doing. What could be some causes for the issue?

Any sort of leak in the coolant system. With the way you went and over heated, you had a sudden loss of coolant, so it sound like something busted. Hose would be my first guess.

None that I saw. I did busy a hose before but installed hps hoses for my coolant. And I didn't see any. And if I was leaking: wouldn't I see you smoke from hitting my exhaust ?

you might just be leaking, i was leaking from my radiator cap on the bottom,
but it leaked so little i didn't notice until it over heated. i freaked but i flushed it
and re checked it, and now it runs fine

I'll try to check when it's not snowing. Prob a dumb question how do I flush it ?

May be retorqueing the head studs May help, had my coolant reservoir bubbling after a pull, a retorque solved the problem

That's assuming he has ARP's

I have ARP studs. Just did a compression test a minute ago and got 100 70 70 100.

Looks like the HG is failed between #2 and #3

Are you sure your fans were working at the time. I had a problem where my fans intermittently wouldn't work due to a bad ground.

Yeah they were working

so i talked to a buddy and he said i may have something more than a blown hg since my compression was so low. What are the chances I have bad rings as well?
