Head gasket maker

i kinda fear my block being warped so when I replace my head gasket I want the best seal possible so can I put gasket sealer on the gasket itself? Front and back? i saw a sr20det buildup were they used it on every gasket on the car incl. the headgasket. if I can put iton the gasket what kind do i need? the kind I hav now is regular grey silicone gasketmaker .

I wouldnt. It is highly unlikely that the block is warped anyway, its cast. Gasket maker on a head gasket wouldnt do much IMO. The amount of torque put on that gasket would just smash all the gasket maker out. Its made to be a crush seal. If you are that worried about it take your block to a machine shop and have them check it.

I would be worried more about the head than the block as far as warping goes. There is a copper spray that might help. I think most auto stores should have it. Besides that RoasT BeeF hit it right on!

only need th copper spray if your using the metal headgasket, but would suggest getting the surfaces decked. if your useing the oem composite one then u have nothing to worry about because it compresses and makes its own seal.
