I know what you're all thinking, no I am not asking if this would work, I am posting because this has already been done.
My engine had a rebuild about 23k ago, and I noticed the other day that theres that blue "gasket maker" crap in the VC crevice, where the VC gasket should be. This worries me. I didn't own the car when it got rebuilt, so I did not know how the rebuilt went. But if he was too cheap to buy a new VC gasket, maybe he cut corners on engine internals too?
I also saw that my TB gasket was broken, and sealed up with silicone. My engine is leaking oil, but that is because I have ancient VC bolts, but I just ordered new ones. Should I clean the engine after installing the new bolts, and see if it still leaks? Or just open up the VC and replace the gasket?
I've had bad experiences with that blue stuff in the past, Whats your guys' take on this? Thanks.
(The blue also looks kind of ridiculous with my red-themed engine bay, but thats not really important)
