head gasket decision...

I need a stock (equivalent) head gasket that will accommodate at least a 86.5mm bore. The oem gasket is .040 over, which will leave part of the ring hanging out into the combustion chamber. Copper head gasket and cometic aren't an option. Any ideas??

How much are you willing to spend? There aren't really a lot of options.
 
After everything else it will be just a drop in the bucket:p . I need to look into any option!
 
Should of mentioned this... the block is o-ringed. The mls gaskets usually work best with a resurfaced head and no o-ring. Unless someone has had luck doing this?
 
I used the mls on my last setup, pushed coolant pretty bad under high boost. But the copper ring might make the difference.

The Titan will work with my bore, but I haven't seen much positive feedback on it.
 
Try the TITAN copper headgasket from FFWD. It's made specifically for O-Ringed blocks and heads. I would try there and check if they have one in the bore you need.

That thing is a piece of crap, FFWD has been going back and forth with SCE trying to find a solution since the gasket came out.

People probably get really tired of hearing me say this but 99% of MLS gasket failures are due to installation or tuning. You really have to follow the instructions to the letter to get it to work correctly. I've had the same Cometic on my car for almost 2 years now, it's seen a lot of abuse and hasn't shown a single sign of leaking. I've ran around 30 psi on pump gas with a GT35R and it held just fine.
 
I have seen the Titan ICS work fine, and I have also seen them leak coolant and fail. The Mitsu MLS will always work fine up to around 32-34psi as long as:

-use new ARP headstuds, or ones that have only been used once before and not overtorqued
-the head and deck surfaces are true and very smooth, the smoother the better
-the headstuds retorqued after the engine has been warmed up and cooled off.
-use a spray (like mopar gasket sealer) to keep it from leaking a little oil.

Carefull tuning is very important when boost gets around 30psi, any detonation will cause it to start pushing coolant. Above 36psi it will start pushing coolant. I had a machine shop open up a mitsu MLS gasket up for me for a 2.1L
 
I just so happen to be a machinist :D . Maybe I will give the mls and copper 0-ring a shot.

2nd the Mopar Gasket Sealer. I'm a Chrysler mechanic and used to use copper spray. I'll never use copper again unless I run out of my Mopar cans. I have like 5 cans in the garage at home.

And I also 2nd going with a Titan HG and using SS O-Ring. I didn't use any sealer with my last Titan HG and with a known warped head was putting around 400 HP to the ground for quite some time before it started to push coolant. And even then it still had very good compression and ran great until around 25 PSI. But it did leak oil out of the head.
