Have You Driven An Automatic Awd

Im not new to the DSM cars but I do have a question about the drivability of my 1993 Tsi AWD. I feel that when driving my car that makes very little power under light pedal and it seems to get into boost so fast even at low RPM, almost like the brakes are dragging or something of that nature, I wish someone locally could drive this thing and let me know what they think! I know when I have the car on a lift it seems very hard to spin the tires with my hand ( I know the door says not too). When driving around town 40mph my autometer boost guage reads like 7in of vacume at max and then on the highway at like 70 at best it is aroun 5in of vacume, somethings not right. Anyway let me know what you think I would greatly appreciate it. I do have mods to the car but it has always veen like this since I bought it.

well the reason why they tell you not to spinng the tier is because they are all connected so you are acutally tring to spin all for at the same time and putting too much stess on the one wheel....


I don't think your brakes are dragging since they would rub down to a point where they no longer stick after a while diving it.

Check for a boost leak. I always thought that the stock boost is about 12psi.

i would think its normal for a automatic to feel slow at lower rpms due to the gear ratio+ awd drivetrain loss+ automatic tranny loss. also it boosts quicker than a manual due to the heavier torque converter and flexplate of a auto vs the clutch and flywheel on a manny.

remember stock vs stock a manual will beat a auto. but mod the auto and it will outshift the manual anyday, any driver.

I can relate to all of the replies I have had from you guys and thanks too, BUT still think something else is up, I wish you all could drive and understand my agravation due to the way this thing feels. I have had other turbo auto cars before but none felt so sluggish from the start as this one does, almost feels like a civic ( I kow that bad ) ! sorry honda guyz actually no Im not. I have run the car at the track and was impressed with the 60ft times and the 1/4 mile seeing I only had the stock 390cc injectors in the car still and managed to get like 30 knock the whole run and hit fuel cut twice, and like 5deg of timing too and turned out well, check out the left lane thats me `18psi of boost not good but it held together and drove home 120miles and the car runs like a top still, other than my problem. 14.0 thats one fast "civic feeling" car ya got there. nice job on the slip though, once you fix this problem and get some fuel mods shell be good for 13's.

I agree, check for boost leak, and tighten all hose clamps. Like the intake, turbo, intercooler, tb.

Just to clear things up the car is NOT stock I have a big 16g, 2g mani, 2g o2 housing, 450cc injectors w/rail and fpr, 2.5 turbo back mandrel bent my custom made, mbc set to 16psi, S-afc, hacked air box w/ k&n. When I purchased the car it felt the same way only thing now is its alot faster and boosts instantly. Keep the opinoin coming, because nothing goes unconsidered.

Could you have a plugged convertor or some other exhaust restriction?

Thanks for the opinion, but nope. I dont have a cat and if this exhaust is resricted than I would probably not be getting pulled over for it. But now that I think about it I have sucked cars up my tail pipe, so mabey there is some residual stuff up there!! :laugh: Thanks though.
