has anyone tried vfaq motor mount inserts?

Vfaq shows a method of reinforcing existing mounts using pieces made from a cutting board. Anyone ever try this? If so, he suggests a 3/8 cutting board. My girlfriend's is only 1/4, which will fit snugly, but I don't want them to pop out. Would like to know before I go destroy her cutting board.

Not sure on that way of doing it but i took and welded plates on each side and it will make it a solid mount

The aftermarket mounts are now available and so inexpensive there isn't much need for this idea anymore.

Yeah I know, unfortunately my tsi is a/t and there aren't any inserts that fit the roll stoppers. I was gonna make my own, but I just wanted to know if this method had any longevity.

Get a large washer with an ID to go around the bolt hole and the OD that fits just inside the OD of the mount. Then weld it solid around the outside of the mount and the bolt sleeve. $2 solid mounts!

Yes this is what i said above it works great if you cant weld it will cost you at most 50$ for everything said and done

You can buy the window weld at napa and use that to remake yours. I've done a few and they do the job. Just make sure to let them dry for a long time if you fill all at once. And wear gloves and be extra careful not to get on yourself or anything, pain to clean up. Lol

This. Energy Suspension sells a tube of 60A and 90A polyurethane that you can use to "make your own" poly mounts. If you have an Auto like me and Ryan here, just do that. It's inexpensive and works incredible(so long as you follow the procedure).

Thanks a lot guys. Now I just gotta wait til I can go without driving her for a couple days to let it cure. Any tricks for removing the rear mount? I was gonna try to go in from the top after removing the battery and tray. After searching, that seems to be the consensus.

agreed. window weld works great if you let it cure properly.
