Ok guys,
We could not figure out why my alt. was not charging, took it off and got it tested and guys at the alt said it was near brand new and worked fine. We could not find any problems in the wiring so we decided to hardwire it. The guys at the alt. shop installed a regulator on the alternator. I have had this done twice but the regulator does not last more than a week then quits charging. we hook the on switch into the radio ignition, jump the other plug into the hot wire on the alternator, then run the old hot wire from the hot terminal. Should I just not use the old wiring harness? Maybe it has a short in it that is killing the regulator?
