I've got a small 16g, chipped eprom, walbro 255, and a 2g ported exhaust manifold so far

my next step is to run e85 and buy some 1000cc injectors and max out that 16g but before i do that i want to purchase all of the supporting mods so i can do this right

which brings up the question do i need a front mount or is a side mount with hard pipping more then sufficient enough?

front mount. I have the punishment kit and it was kinda a pain to install but it works excellently and I am very happy with. would definitely recommend it if you're on a budget

Well I'm running a fp big T28 with Hahn Racecraft hard piping and Hahn big smic. I like it. That being said... It's $300 for the hardpiping and I got the Hahn smic for $400. They don't make the Hahn smic anymore. If I had it to do over I'd just got with punishment racing and save what $400?

You could go with a Supra side mount and hard piping if you want to keep it a sleeper. If not, go with the punishment kit.

fmic i love mine installed by me cheap custom set up, tossed my smic it was junk anyway. car pulls much harder and its not even tuned yet.

I would post this in the local section, as most normal places don't have 130* ambient temps at road level. It can be hard getting a fmic and ac to work together out here, as you know.

I would good with a front mount kit. It would compliment the rest of the mods you have planned. A hard pipe kit may be cheaper at the moment, but you will be happier with the front mount in the long run.

I have the XS Power / SSAC FMIC....it gets the job done. Only downside is that the piping goes in front of the intercooler...that's a no-no. Super long route piping.

i found hard piping for $130 from PR and they also sell a frount mount w/all piping for $400
my ac isn't really hooked up currently, my belt tends to break and i go through new heads, and arizona is starting to cool down so i was thinking the front mount might be the better of the options

i don't really want to be a sleeper, i'm 18 and i just started college so i want every kid and his mother to turn heads when they see me

Ahh yes, this is always the mentality at that age. One more reason for everyone to want to race you....good luck with tickets. LOL

"Mod Cheap, Mod Twice."

Ask a friend or two what they are personally using and what the like or dislike about their FMIC. Look at the setup installed on their DSM's and make an informed decision from there. I know quite a few people with the PR units and have never heard a complaint about their performance. I do know however that those same friends ALWAYS drool over the ETS FMIC kits I have on our shop DSM's. Plus if you're into "attention whoring" just imagine how clean your grill looks with an ETS shining behind your bumper cover.

i'm at four so far and only was in my talon haha

yeah I was in and out of that real fast.

you can be a sleeper with a FMIC though.

like my car is really modded but you can only see a fmic from the outside, and my black grill helps hide it.

I had the Supra sidemount on my first DSM. It was a great SMIC, aside from the fitment issues. The side of my bumper stuck out and the intercooler inlet hung too low. And this was with it as high up and to the right as it would go.

The plastic end tanks are a pos...I hit a bump and cracked the inlet area and had to have the car towed home because it wouldnt drive....huuuuuge boost leak. Get a FMIC, I say. Even if it's the XS Power one. It was on the car I have now, and it's decent for what it is.

The small 16g resonds VERY well to a front mount. It is VERY efficient at high boost. But because of the adiabatic process, of course higher boost means more heat, regardless of efficiency. IOW, if you can run the same boost as the evo3 16g, you'll get the same power even though the compressor is larger withe e3 piece up to a point where you really should be running a front mount anyhow. So you need an intercooler that works well with a typical e3 16g setup. Or you're not going to see the potential of that small 16g. It is a GREAT turbo. It is FAR better than the regular big 16g, with new technology.

ETS is for bling and the name at this level. Ebay inercoolers have been making 16g setups run well for years ;) . . . Get the ets when you want 450whp out of a 50trim with pump gas.

Thing is, out here we don't run pumpgas. When it's 115* no intercooler in the world works great, especially with 91 octane. Not to mention the problems running a/c and a fmic together at temps that melt plastic. A smic and e-85 is a reasonable option out here for 20 ish psi setups, and still has the ability to keep your windows up when it's 120*.
If it were my setup, i would buy 1000cc injectors first, as switching to e85, and remaining on the smic will yield more power than a fmic on 91 octane and 450's. After that a fmic would be the next step up.

That makes the most sence. Nothing wrong with the core juice. But the stock aircharge cooler becomes an airflow restriction. At least a front mount frees up restriciton. Running a frontmount and a/c is probably not so good in 110*F weather for your coolant system. So the sidemount upgrade is the next best option right?

. . .Screw AZ. I'll deal with the rust.
