Hahn SMIC now more boost?

So i got a great deal on a brand new never used Hahn Smic. Installed everything and no problems or anything. What i did notice however was that i was running about 2-3 lbs more boost then i was before with the stock IC. My boost is controlled Via a Turboxs Hpbc and i have the stock T25. Any ideas from this? or is it normal?

More likely you fixed a boost leak when you replaced the stock SMIC.

Never thought of that. Car pulls hard and i got rid of alot of knock in the upper rpms. Right now it spikes about 1.3-1.5 bar which should be around 17 psi on a 10.7-10.9 AFR (super rich i know). I wanna turn it down to about 16 psi. Could the stock Ic been bad?

I agree with Pat. Have you done a boost leak test to look for any other leaks especially since you messed with your intake track?

Unfortunatly have not. Im off tomorrow and tuesday I plan on doing one then. I was driving right after I put it on yesterday and noticed the boost gauge way past what i normally see in my peripherals. Car felt good though. The Hahan was almost Double the thickness of the Stock Sm.

It's a pretty good upgrade from stock, although with most of the cheap FMIC's these days, the SMIC is best for those on a tight budget, or looking for a total stock appearing car.

I myself have been looking for a side mount to upgrade also. I have been back and forth between just putting on my evo 8 fmic or going to a bigger side mount.

Mine was polished and it looks great. Im actually gna make a scoop for it since the factory one will not fit. The weds are very very nice and it fit really well. Its not so much as a budget thing to me as it is stock appearing and keeping the a/c system and cooling properties of the car. The Oklahoma summers are rediculous. We had 50+ days of over 100 degrees last year. That will tax any cooling system.

Man I got lucky. I'm good friends with someone at Forced Performance and this person told me they knew someone who had a brand new one they had never used. So one phone call later I was the proud owner of one.

The increase in boost likely due to the decreased flow restriction of the Hahn unit, they do claim 400hp after all, in combination with fixing a boost leak.

Yep, I gained 1-2psi on my used unit from Dejon.
