I was planning on selling my n/t 2g GS at the end of summer and with the money i saved up at my summer job would buy a 2g GSX. I have recently been told that AWDs have problems leading to someone suggesting that i could buy the GSX engine(4g63) and could do an engine swap. Would it be better to just sell my n/t GS and buy a GSX or could i do the engine swap and have a well off DSM ready for me to start tuning?

would it be cheaper though to buy a 1g 4g63 engine put an after market turbo on it then selling my n/t and spending 2k on a gsx?

I don't think you could do that properly for less than $2k unless everything is dirt cheap where you live. I would rather get a GSX. those things are amazing and AWD doesn't limit you as much as FWD

2G N/T is completely different from a 2G turbo. You will not be able to swap the engine. I was just like you a few years back. I had an N/T and wanted to swap the engine. After about 5 years worth of research on this site I bought the crappiest GSX I could find and I'm swapping in a built 6 bolt engine into my GSX. I now have over 25,000 into my GSX. :thumb:

Bottom Line: Buy a GSX. You'll be :D

You can't swap a 4g63 into the 2g 420a the engines sit on opposite sides of the engine bay. the mounts wont work.

If you have the money, you can do the swap, manufacturing the motor mounts and put the motor you want. But personally it is not safe. Here in peru there is a 98 mitsu lancer (opossite side for motor mounts) with a 1g 4g63t running on streets. Another case is a dump (in peru too) running a 3sg motor (toyota motor) on his 96 n/t eclipse

For the guy that open the thread... go for a 95-99 gsx. You can do a 4g63t swap and convert your car into a gsx, getting a gsx rear suspension, trany, fuel tank (seach the thread for gsx conversion. i think it is a headache do it).
But look how much money and time you are gonna spend doing that.

Simply seach for a 95-99 gsx ;)

Let's not get crazy with the swaps here. Buy a 2G GSX and be done with it. Anything else is just stupid for 99% of people.

what are you planning on doing with this car, will you be taking it to a Track to run? if so i would go with a GSX, if your just wanting it to play with as an everyday driver i would go with a GST, they are quicker at a roll...dont mess with all this engine swapping whatever you do, even when you mod an engine you always run into little issues that take time to work out in order to mod the engine correctly, buy a stock gsx or gst and just mod from their

aight. i found this guy across the street who would buy my GS at the end of summer for 2200 and i found a couple of GSXs for about 4000 so ill just save up and get that and mod on it from their. (really wishing i didnt buy that GS for my first car now LOL)

Good stuff dude. I made the same mistake by buying a GS. Although I put thousands of dollars into mine so that made it even worse. Keep researching on this site until you get your GSX and then youll be ready to start modding when you get it. Good Luck.
