ok so i was looking around on craigs and found a 97 gst pretty much stock and she was interested in a trade so i put up my 98 GS my gs also being pretty much stock besides a few things here and there. the only problem is... the gst is automatic :ohdamn: i was wondering would the trade would be worth it down the road if i did a 5 speed swap? or if it would be too much time and money? if i did do the swap what exactly would i need? not quite sure what to do yet just looking for some outside opinions. thanks in advance guys

heres the add:
I have a 97 Eclipse Gs-t AUTO, Turbo with 143,xxx. Cold air intake, Strut bar, aftermarket headlights and tailights. Custom painted interior black and yellow with a racing steering wheel and black and yellow racing seats. I have treated this car like it's been my baby. NEVER SEEN A WINTER. The only reason I am selling it is because I'm sick of AUTO, I have to get a standard, so I am looking for $3200 or trades for 94-96 Civic, Accord, Integra, Prelude with a body kit Or may be willing to trade for another Eclipse must be 2nd generation. ***MUST BE STANDARD*** Also, it can't have that high of miles. Car does need to be inspected, will pass with no problem other then the steering wheel.

Hey I've seen this ad on craigslist and ya that interior difinately clashes. Honestly it looks like a really clean car but for the price and the miles its really not worth it. There are tons of good cars on craigslist just keep looking. For what it would cost to buy that car, get the parts for the swap, and then install them you could buy a blown engine GST and put a new engine in it. It would probably be just as much work and you would have a brand new engine for the same cost of this high milage auto. I would never buy a running dsm again anyways they're just too much work. Its much better to get one really cheap and throw a fresh engine in there. That's what I did with my GST.

yeah good call ive looked this long why get a car that ill regret getting down the road. but yeah that interior.. doh! :ohdamn: ha and im not to big on the tail lights. but ill keep an eye out. someday ill get a turbo dsm

GreenDSMdude, I dont think its worth it. The obnoxious interior, high miles and paul walker taillights really bring it down. Its automatic, and as from what I see we are about on the same level of our DSM careers;), so doing that swap might be a hassle. I would pass on it and keep your reliable GS. Be careful of a chick driving a turbo car. Some dsm girls know their stuff, most women unfortunaly just drive their cars without worrying about maintenance (like my mom, her poor caddy would have been dead if i didnt take care of it;))
