gst trans check

I have a 2g FWD spare trans that I dont know the history of and I guy wanted to buy it so to check it he spins input shaft in drive direction but the trans feels lock up, does it in each gear and same thing, free wheels in neutral, but the input shaft will spin the gears when turning it backwards ? what should I check?

I fixed it, took a clutch plate and just gave it a good hard turn and it started to turn freely now working as intended
