Ok so I don't know if I really have a bad problem or not but here goes. Here's some quick background on the car. I got it as a non running project last June. After fighting through all the issues with the motor I have finally been able to put about 20-25 miles on it. Here comes the possible problems. When the car shifts from 1-2 it does it really quick. As in if I pull out of my driveway onto the road it shifts not even halfway through the turn. Seems early since the rpm's drop so low going into 2nd. However you have to get some speed and rpm's to shift beyond that. From 2nd to 3rd it hits hard. No slipping or easing in it just slams in and chirps. If I'm cruising down the interstate and crush the gas pedal it tries to downshift but goes to nothing. Like I shifted into neutral. If I ease into passing gear it downshifts and goes. I'm just wondering if I just need to drive it for a bit to work out the tranny or if it may need a rebuild. The fluid looks and smells fine. The dipstick I think isn't the correct one since it don't seem to want to seat all the way in the tube. The car did sit for a while before I got it. Probably a few years. I'm just trying to get this car going reliably for the wife. I'm not planning on building for big power or anything like that. Just wanting a fun daily driver out of it. I appreciate any help you all can throw my way. Thanks
