GST 7bolt 4g63 eninge in a 97 gsx??

Can I get a GS-T Engine and fit it in a GSX? I know its the engine.... kinda of a noob question sry, I found a locol guy selling a GST engine that he got from japan with less then 30,xxx on it, my car having 150,xxx on it, needs engine work, so instead if getting it fixed, just get a used engine, it will less miles on it. but will it fit? my tranny is still good as well as all the stuff (ecu, smic, piping, mani, maft..etc..)

would love the help asap.. guy wants to know if Im gana buy it..
 
The motor is the exact same. Use your AWD flywheel, bolt up and go!

Edit: I don't recall whether they had 2g turbo motors over in Japan or not, so if it is from a 1g, you will need to wire up the 1g CAS the motor comes with into your car and change/modify the driver's side motor mount. Everything you need to know can be found by searching. Magnus has a great write-up for it all.
 
Yes, but you will need to swap the flywheel from your engine onto that one. There is no difference other then that, exact same engine. It's also a good idea to make sure that engine is in perfect running order, unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who will rip you off.
 
I wouldn't believe him that the engine is from Japan unless he had some type of proof. Even if it is, big deal....it doesn't mean it's any better than the engine you're pulling from your car.

A good thing to do before you load it up and take it home is remove the oil cap and peer down into the valve cover. If it's clean enough to eat from inside there, then it's a good possibility the engine has the 30k on it that he claims. If it's all nasty under the valve cover with a brown film all over everything, better make it 130k.
 
Looks like you should have your answer but yes if its a 2g 7 bolt, its the exact same for the gsx & gst (like has been mentioned, swap flywheels). As for the JDM motor, I wouldn't put my trust in the milage they claim, how many people do you know that pull their motors at 30K for no good reason? Most JDM engine sellers claim 30-60K but doubt most have any idea of the actual milage. Also another thing is alot of the time their type of driving is alot different then ours. The traffic in Japan is insane, I remember a local telling us that over there it was normal for a 30km drive to take 4-6 hours, so even if the motor does have 30K on it, the actual running time may be much much higher then an engine with that milage over here. Best bet is to check the motor over, do a compression test, etc.
 
Thanks guys... I called the guy, and asked him a few questions. He tells me he has paper work to prove everything, its still in the crate it came in. but im going to check it out...

how can I tell if its a 7bolt? if it is a 7bolt then in running with it! but then what? what should I replace in it while its out?
