I just want to vent something here tonight. I was wondering if u all have the same thing around u...

Ok, i went out tonight and was asking around trying to see if i could find a 14b anyone wanted to get rid of. When i was asking them they say "why u want a 14B? just get a 16G!!" i say "Whats the point?? The fastest 14b went like 11.84's when the fastest 16g went 11.77's. Not to mention i could get a 14b for $100-150 installed and a 16G for $500, i don't have the money for a 16G or i would get a 20G."

They just piss me off b/c they think they know everything there is to know about DSM's, and they try to argue with the facts of the research. I KNOW what i'm talking about. I'm gonna buy a 14b and make it faster then my friends 16g. He has a spider and went like 13.50's, i'm not sure exactly however.

Do any of u get this where u live and all u wanna do is prove them wrong?? I know i do and it makes me mad cuz they treat me like i know nothing about DSM's. I know i don't know everything but i know more than them i know. This guy also thinks the turbo and non-turbo blocks are the same. Which they are not...are they??

k, first off a 16g is better than a 14b, even thouh one guy got into the high 11's, 16g is superior. 2g blocks are different, t to nt.
1g blocks t to nt are similar.
but anyways realize that when the light drops the bullshit stops, or in youre case, when you punch it in 3rd, you'll own that turd.

not to be off subject but don't you need an install kit for the 16g and the such? or a jpipe?

well anyways... 16gs are a more common upgrade... so try not to hate them... actually when i first joined this site most of the people were like get a 16g or a big16g. Today its like T3/T4 turbo man. So who knows... oh well good luck to you

From what I gather, a 16g makes it EASIER to get those low numbers. It'll push more air at the same psi than the 14b, which will help you get added hp. I guess all i'm saying is don't bash it because you can't afford it, or don't want to take that "middle step".

I don't think he's bashing the 16g upgrade, just that tuners look down on him for not going that route. I agree with xcelr8n tho. Do what you want man. A 14b in the car is better than a 16g on the wishlist.

Welcome to Earth. This slice of time is the only helping we're gonna get.

Some folks just never get it.

Everything is relative. The 16g and 14b are both good. For different reasons. The HUGE plus of a 16g is, that It would be a new turbo for 500-600 bucks. From my experience in life. New is always good. While the 14b used will be 150 ish depeing on age/mileage. Personally, I would buy a 16g, I like the fact that id know im doing the punishment / or treating it nice, Opposed to getting a 14b and hoping that it was treated right.

ok first i KNOW a 16g is better than a 14b but not for the money. Thats 400 dollars more than a 14b and u have to have the supproting mods (ie fuel pump and injectors.) to run higher boost. Not to mention if i get the 14b it can easily be turned into a small 16g easily.

It doesn't bother me that they think a 16g is better but they don't have to be an ass about it. They act like they know everything like with the blocks. I am refering to a 46G3 first gen turbo and N/A blocks. One guy i know is gonna buy one and repalce it with a turbo block. I told him it would be better to get a turbo block if he was gonna put that BIG 16G on it. But him and this other guy won't listen to me. They say they were EXACTLY the same.

I know what i'm talking about.

Dont worry about it, you can't convince everybody - I learned that lesson a while ago. Especially those civic ricers, man I've tried to convince them NOT to buy civics, but they buy 'em anyway AND dump money into them like crazy! Oh well, when I get my 1G turbo dsm they will see who's right!

way to get OT LOL.

anyway, as far as this arguement goes i agree with chris26969. kinda goes with the saying "buy right, buy once" - cause you just never know what you're going to get... i'd rather have the safety of knowing that the parts [ especially a turbo ] are new and unbeaten.

but performance wise you're right. for the difference, a 14b is well worth the money. almost exactly like a small 16g.. either way you'll be away from the pitiful t2small. so FUK the FREEWORLD and do what you want!!!

*OT* plus you cant exactly correct everyone about their "tuning" mistakes. sometimes i just sit back and listen to my friends rant about how cool an FMI [ front mount intake  ] is way better than a regular open element filter.. LOL; or how those JET chips works wonders on domestic cars.. LOL

i don't know if anyone is listening but let me just add my 2 cents and a nickel. everyone has there way of tuning from Burscher camp to Jotech guys. its your car do whatever you want to do with your money. now the reason the 16g is chosen over the 14b is to be efficient. running a 14b at high boost levels to do what a 16g can do at lower boost levels to make up for a small compression housing and turbine housing will certainly shorten the life of the turbo itself/turbo failure. the reason, lets say we set two 2g gsx at stock boost (12psi) one with a 14b and the other with a 16g and ran them on dynos back to back. no upgrades, same fuel and two robots(throwing out the variable of people). instantly on the first run the 16g will make more HP because it has more area to push more mass with less effort and the 14b has less area to push less mass. more mass into turbo motor = HP. don't get me wrong 16g do fail! if it didn't it wouldn't be real. yeah the 14b spools stupid quick but think how fast that little tiny wheel is spinning after your telling it to go 25psi or 30psi yeah at first it might give you great torque but later (could be 6 months could be a year) it will drop. what do exhaust from motors and turbos spinning cause... heat and heat is the worst thing in the world to a 14b running at high psi... oil broken down too quick in the caseing, parts warping, shaftplay or bending, have you ever seen a turbine housing glow orange? now this is just my opinion and your in a forum so take it how ever you want to. and if your rich like TRUMP take it all..... peace ps and from what i experienced companies wont take the used 14b in to make 16g due to 14b turbine housing craking.

Its your car man, do what you want with it. If you want to put pretty pink frill around the head lights and a musical horn on there you can, since its yours.

If someone is dumb enough to dump money into a civic, why would you ever want them to own a dsm. It would end up like every other wasted turbo dsm with a kit and a parkbench.

Come on, no civic bashing here.

You have to understand these "civic ricers" will kick our asses half the time. A b18c1 + 92 Civic Hatchback is a cheap and easy way to kick our asses.

Theres nothing wrong with civics. You can have a problem with the stock EX civics running around with bodykits and neons up the wazoo , reving on everything that has a motor.

Yet if the person who owns that car, appreciates it as a decent looking / relaible car. then good for him.

Let's get real.
I just took out my 14b and replaced with a B16g, the difference is night and day.
The B16g pulls alot harder, but I mean alot harder at 15psi that the 14b did at 18psi.
I'll be the first one to tell you that you will regreat getting the 14b, it's not that impressive at all.
Those guys that are running 11's on the 14b have pretty much else done to the cars, were talking from front mounts to engine work, manifolds, etc, etc.
I just say this from experience, done it, would not do it again, best time I got with the 14b was 13.6@18psi, I can tell right now with the B16g at 15psi I will be at low 13's, the car pulls like crazy.
I can't wait for next week I'm getting 550's installed and tuned with SAFC

Well, the block itself IS exactly the same :) Different internals though :)
