grinding gear?

what does a grinding gear feel like? I can feel a bump in 2nd and 3rd gear when shifting that was not there before, could it be bad tranny fluid? sorry for the lame post but it's buggin me.

it kinda feels like you are misshifting. Some new trans fluid could help alot, but getting new synchros would probably be your best bet.

Doesnt sound like your grinding gears to me. My car grinds in a few baddd You can here it when ya go into the gear like errrrrnt

Doesn't sound like grinding gears. You would definately notice and hear that. Might be some early signs of it though from your "bumps" in between shifting gears.

I'm hoping it's the transfluid because as the car warms up or is run for a bit it never happens, i spoke to a friend of mine that is a mechanic and he says a synchro may have gone bad, im selling it soon i just dont want the trans to die on me or the person that is getting the car. How much are new synchros?

Listen, as far as grinding goes if your not getting a ker-chunk! sound shifting hard into second consider yourself lucky. Now as far as fluid goes go only with the best ie; BG SYNCROSHIFT OR THE GM SYCROSHIFT I cant remember thier excact names but if you call up your local chevy dealer they'll know what you mean. Even the mitsu guys will tell you this. Peace.

Get some old guy to teach you how to double-kick, or what they're now calling "rev matching".

When your synchros are so bad that they're grinding, you won't have to be asking about it.

I already realized that there is no problem when i do that, i think grindings the wrong word it just feels rough, maybe i'm too sensitive.
