I know this is quite the noob question, thats why i am posting this here.I just picked up a greddy rs bov since my 1g bov wasnt holding on my last dyno.I went ahead and crushed my 1g bov and it helped a little but still would'nt hold really well past 20 psi.I know 349whp is an ok number, but with my 20g and supporting mods on e-85 i feel like i shouldve been closer to 400.Basically i couldnt set my boost over 21 without overrunning my 1g bov.I have always ran a 1g bov since i've owned a dsm,so an adjustable bov is new to me.Oh,and i am recirculating by the way since i am running an evo maf fyi.

So i have this greddy rs now and i put it on and went out for a few pulls and it feels like it rips wayyy harder over 20psi, so i feel that it is definately holding boost. But when i let off in boost, instead of a pshhh sound its a psh-pshh-psh-psh sound, almost like it's fluttering. It is confusing me because i feel like it is holding the boost finally, but maybe i'm set at too stiff of a setting, idk? Like i said i've always ran the stock 1g bov,so im not quite sure where to set it.
The first thing i did when i got it was take it apart to check out the diaphram and spring, and the diaphram and everything else was perfect. It has 2 springs in it,1 is black and thinner and the other one is black as well but thicker.I tried adjusting it harder and softer, but it did'nt seem to make any difference,it still made the pshh pshh pshh psh sound.Like i said though it seems to hold great, just dont know if the sound is normal and i dont want to damage my turbo from compressor surge.

BOV

Look here for some great info on how a BOV works
Sounds like you have too much load on the spring and it's unable to release all the pressure, which is killing your turbo. Try adjusting it like mentioned in the link I provided

After you adjust it, you need to test drive it and do a 3rd gear pull to see if it is still compressor surging. The lightest setting is what you want to aim for. The turbo needs to be unload a load, not revving at a standstill

Thanks for the link, thats just what i needed.I opened it up and pulled out the bigger of the 2 springs and just went with the small spring. Then it was just a matter of getting the adjustment screw on top set by doing a few pulls. Now it is holding and releasing exactly like i wanted. It sounds freakin sweet too, even with it recirculated with a thick recirc tube and thick intake pipe:thumb:
