Hey guys, I am wondering if the smaller Greddy 18r fmic would be large enough for a t28/16g turbo up to 20psi, or if I will eventually have to swap to a 2gb front bumper and run the larger Greddy 24r fmic?

I really want to keep the 2ga front bumper with oem fogs, so Im thinking the smaller greddy 18r should fit well, but if that fmic is too small for a t28/16g around 20 psi I guess Ill have to go 2gb front and larger fmic....

You guys think the 18r is big enough?

Or, are there any fmic's that are specifically meant for 95-96 2ga front bumpers that retains the factory fog lights?

The ONLY pic I have seen on a 2ga that kept the oem foglights is the smaller Greddy 18r intercooler. Is this "small" fmic big enough for a t28/16g pushing 20psi? Or are there other fmic's that I can keep the 2ga front bumper and fogs?

While I don't know the answers to your specific questions, here's some food for thought:

You can never have too large of an intercooler.

I'm not so knowledgeable on airflow or 2ga bumper fitment, but it seems that you can just calculate how much power you want to make - and determine how much airflow is required. Then find the intercoolers that flow enough cfm. From there just call up the vendors on here and ask them if they have something that doesn't require you to remove the fog lights. I know the VSRF kit requires removal.

At the very least, you can find a good core - and route your own piping. Just one of the nice things about the Greddy kits.

This might be true for injectors. But you definitely should get an intercooler that supplements your turbo.

Greddy is long route pipeing. So why not go with the vrsf kit or punishment racing.

Unfortunately this is why the Greddy kit is so versatile. Long route utilizes all the factory open space in the engine bay. OP want's to keep his fog lights.

If it werent for me wanting to keep the 2ga front bumper and retain the foglights I would be looking at intercoolers other than the Greddy, but I cant seem to find any fmic that fits the 2ga bumper and retains the fog lights. I just dont want to buy the smaller Greddy 18r, have it fit perfectly and still not be enough intercooler for the car....

It doesn't matter what intercooler kit you get...huge, big, small. This won't restrict which bumper your able to use, just trim it according to what size you decide to go.
The Punishment kit allows to keep the factory fogs on a 2gb...I'm sure it's the same for a 2ga since the brackets are in the same place. The Greddy kit is good I guess.

I have a complete greddy 24r in decent condition. Pm me if your interested.

So your saying that every intercooler allows use of a non molested 2ga front bumper and keep the oem fog lights? doubt it....

I have google image searched and the only 2ga with a fmic that kept fogs is using the greddy 18r fmic, all the other fmic's ive seen on a 2ga required doing away with the fogs and/or ridiculously cutting the front bumper which is ugly as sin.

Also, this may sound stupider (duno if thats a word, LOL) than wanting to keep the 2ga front bumper, but, what about using the small Greddy 18r fmic AND a larger smic? I really want to keep the 2ga front/fogs without cutting it all to hell, but worried the Greddy 18r might not be big enough....

theres absolutly no reason to have a small fmic and a sidemount ic. if you get to the point where your intercooler is not cooling enough, you need a bigger intercooler, and bigger piping.

Errrrr. You should absolutely always fit the biggest intercooler you can (unless it causes your car to overheat) regardless of which turbo you're running. Straight from a Garrett engineers mouth.

Well from what I can tell, the Greddy 18r pretty much is the biggest intercooler that I can fit....

I've tried looking for specs on this core, like max cfm and max hp etc but cannot find anything....
