Got some questions about 2g's

I might buy a 2g this coming spring and have a few questions.

1. When a 2g crankwalks, I heard you have to swap to a 6 bolt. Does this 6-bolt come from the turbo 1g dsm's?

2. Why do people swap to the Supra mkIV intercooler, and what are the benefits of it?

3. People swap to the 1g bov cause it's stronger, what other 1g parts are swapped into the 2g to make it better?

4. Is it better to swap to the 14b instead of staying with the stock 2g turbo?

5. What's this evo turbo I keep hearing about, and how much does it help being swapped into a 2g?

6. What does an AFC do?

1. prolly youre best cost wise decision overall yes...
2. its a bigger intercooler. therefore cools better.
3. the whole engine in a 1g is stronger, aside from the pistons.. the head is stronger, throttle body, intake manifold
4.yes 14b>t25 but 16g>14b...

You don't have to switch to a 6 bolt, people typically swap to the 6 bolt because the 6bolt is less likely to walk...not impossible...just less likely.

2. Why do people swap to the Supra mkIV intercooler, and what are the benefits of it?

The supra intercooler is a touch larger and has beeter flow characteristics...making the charge air cooler for better performance...the other option would be a front mount intercooler.

some people swap in the 6bolt..as mentioned...some also swap in just the throttle body.

4. Is it better to swap to the 14b instead of staying with the stock 2g turbo?

Purely a matter of choice. It's a bit larger, but not as powerful as many of the turbos out there.

5. What's this evo turbo I keep hearing about, and how much does it help being swapped into a 2g?

the evo3 16g turbo is larger than the stock turbos and a little longer spool time...it's a common turbo for those who want something bigger but don't want the lag time of some of the extra large/heavier drag style turbos.

In the end it completely depends on what you intend to do with the car, all of these things are subjective. Is it a daily driver? A drag queen? A trailer queen for shows? Autox? Rally? etc etc... like i said, depends on what you want to do with it or turn it into.
