Got New Comp Cams Installed

Just got my new comp 101200 cams installed with new 3g lifters. I have a few questions. I am seeing an increase in boost with no adjustment to my MBC, is this normal? Also trying to figure out how to set base timing. I have a 90 motor/head/intake/cas in my 95 car. When i put my timing light on it at idle the timing is not steady it is jumping around. Is there something i'm supposed to do to make it stay steady so i can set it at 5*.

The increase of boost with no changes to the mbc is not normal but the cams could be making your current setup creep. is boost steady threw out the rpm range at wot?

There is a connector on the firewall that you must connect to ground in order to keep base timing set at 5 degrees.

I think my boost increase was from me putting a vac cap on the wastegate port i'm not using, the top one. Will take off and find out. Thanks for the info.
