got bored and did this

the deck lid is not a spot many would think of to put speakers i think. with all of it's little curvy spots and such, just not such a hot spot for sounds. if the speakers were maybe smaller and sat better in it, it probably wouldn't look so bad. and i'd probably get rid of the non-matching speaker. not a horrible idea, it just probably didn't come through as well as you might have had in your head. or maybe we're not seeing what you're seeing LOL. but it's YOUR car though, so you can do whatever you want with it :)

its cool bro.. as long as they work and sound good.. i did a similar mod because i love loud music and im known to throw block parties :hellyeah: i have a social life other than live in the DSM world LOL sometimes you guys are too serious and need to have a car for your own purposes, not because your afraid to do a mod because a 650+hp car is going to bash on you...

If this is what DSMtuners is about.. then the hell with them...

i support you bro.. have fun with your car.. because its yours.

My friend was bored with his mazda 3 but he didn't do that. He made a custom enclosure in his trunk with plexi glass covering his amp with red led's, that you couldn't see because he hid them beneath the plexi. With a red button in front of it to put the lights on or off, with the old school mazda logo in the center. Ill look for a pic, his is probably one of the nicest setups I've ever seen. Took him a week though and someone offered him 1200$ to make the same thing in there mazda.

He said no because originality destroys everything! This isn't original, you could've found speakers that sit flush were the cover goes down and make everything sort of flow together. This doesn't but you were bored LOL.

Mount them from the under-side instead of above, and put some flat speaker grills or something on top.

Hmm I like this idea . I might end up going with this once it gets garaged for winter I'll probably reinstall them like he said underneath with grill ,mesh, thin matching cloth layer over the top of them to make it look normal . Thanks for the feedback everyone . Yes everyone even the flaming it's still feedback LOL

I never had and never will understand why people mount speakers in the cargo cover.
Especially when your car has 4 (minimum) mid bass speakers all ready.
Some people must really like treble.

The white ones aren't even spaced evenly. It can't sound good, cause you're just stealing power from the 6x9 rear speakers. And on top of that, you're asking to get your shit stolen. Scrap the whole idea and 1) get rid of the hatch cover completely, or 2) buy a new hatch cover from ebay, and replace that monstrosity.

You could have sold the cover and used the money for a real sub enclosure. Now you have just ruined a good cargo cover that is hard to find... For me anyways

Just my .02

If you didn't add another amp to power those speakers, you aren't even going to get any more "bump." You have the same puny wattage from the head unit now powering 2.5 times as many speakers in the rear. On top of that, mid range speakers aren't supposed to produce much bass. Many aftermarket ones will produce less bass response then stock speakers, especially when underpowered. You also screwed up the stereo imaging of the car. All in all, this mod just made your sound quality worse, not better.

I agree with you, and here comes the BUT...

You post on this site, you will get responses from this site. I didn't see any bashing, correct me if I'm wrong, just saw opinions. He's a big boy, he can handle it- otherwise he wouldn't have posted.

My opinion, I don't like them. But props for not paying someone else to do that mod, and doing it yourself. Props to you for sticking up for him, and I'll add my .02 for the motor-heads ;)

and acutlaly I not a bigg BASS type guy i like the high pitched guitar rifts and it actually made my car louder regardless to others thoughts . The head unit i have in there if i turn it passted 26 the rear speakers would crackle and distort anyway because my headunit is ####in LOUD . it maxes at 60

You better chill, before you go deaf. Budweiser solutes you...

Then you should have just replaced the rear speakers with a new set of 6x9's or threw that matching white set you put on the cargo cover in there place for now untill you can replace them with a 3 way set of 6x9's. the 3 ways will produce plenty of mid and high end for a shred to sound good, as well as some low end for the dual kick pedal drums to sound better too (If you're into metal like me).

Sounds good to me thats all that matters right now LOL . I plan on replacin the 6x9's soon as well I'm doing an all around speaker change here soon as i get the money I just wanted it for the little time im drivin it likei said soon winter will be coming and i won't be driving it anyway thats when i save money and spend it on stuff LOL

Crap, the pictures are blocked here at work, so I'll take a look at it when I get home. Eventually, I want to mount some 6.5" subs in the rear 6x9" speaker location.

Yikes, No matter how it looks, I would add a smaller size 4 channel amp in there especially if you are putting in 6x9s.

Head units aren't loud. Most of them don't pump out more than I'd say 22 RMS watts per channel. If you like guitar rifts, I suggest when you get some money to invest in some component speakers and an amplifier. If your speakers crackle when you turn up your deck it means they are shot, and adding more speakers instead of replacing them isn't really a solution. Just my two cents.
