Good price to pay for a bare block

So I'm going up tonight to look at a bare block that came out of a 93 eclipse gsx and was wondering what a good price to pay for it and what to look for in a bare block. So far the deal is I get a bare block, a head that had the timing skip on it, and a crank for 250. I know that's a good deal even if the head is trashed but what should I look for while looking at the block and crank? The guy said the block is bored .020 over so that's slightly concerning. Also, what's a good sign that the head is trashed? I just want as much info about looking over These parts so I can talk him down more ( he started at 550 and talked him Down to 250)

Make sure head comes with matching cam caps. check for any gouges or signs of a spun cam in the head cam journals. Also look at the deck and make sure there is no deep grooves or really bad detonation marks..

As for block I would check the cylinder walls and measure it myself to confirm .020 overbore. also keep in mind if there are some deep grooves in the cylinder wall a simple hone will not fix this you will need to bore it out to .040

as for price I usually buy core blocks for 100-150 and heads are around 100 each.. post a want to buy add and see what people have.

Personally, I wouldn't give over $50 for a bare block, unless its been machined. Then I might give $150. About $100 for a head core/head with bent valves. $100 for a good crank. I gave $250 for my complete 6 bolt nt engine from a pull apart, with 132k miles on it, still in good running condition

As stated above, verifying that it is bored to .020 and making sure there are no deep grooves or scratches in the cylinder walls would be a good idea. Also, make sure the crankshaft journals are in good shape with a simple "finger nail test" and make sure there aren't any deep scratches. Just make sure you thoroughly check everything and point out anything that catches your eye and try to talk him down. Good luck!

I once got a loaded, with stock parts, 1g head resurfaced with good sealing valves for (get this guys) free.
I went to a tuning shop cause I was gonna buy a set of rc 510cc injectors, I did end up buying them for like $75 bucks , anyway the the owner of the shop didn't seem to care much for mitsubishi's... [being mainly a Honda tuning shop ]

so I then asked him if he had any other mitsubishi parts for sale, he took a minute to think on it and said ''oh yeah I had a mitsu dohc head lying around"
the cylinder head was taking up space in the corner of his tuning garage so he just gave it to me I couldn't complain

as for the block anything from 0 to 150 dollars is a decent price for a bare non over size block, but hey it depends where you shop, and who you buy from, but do closely inspect all the parts you intend to buy.

Id pay:

$50-75 for the Block.
$75 for the head.
$50 for the crank.

$550 is completely nuts for those parts.
I paid 200 for a complete motor that had a bad oil pump, and bent valves.
