i have read that its a good idea to make it so you dont need to push in the clutch to start the car by unplugging that little wire because then you are not putting stress on a partially lubricated thrust bearing. this sounds like it would help prevent the dread c-walk... is there any merit behind this? how many of you have done this mod?

I did the mod. The only thing to watch out for is leaving the car in gear and starting the car. If you have a turbo timer you never leave the car in gear anyways. I am sure it helps a little.

funny story:

this dumbass i used to work with did this to his riced out 98 prelude so he could use autostart. long story short he autostarted it with the car in gear and no e-brake...

bye bye body kit into the neighbors mailbox

I heard about it unplugged it ... the one right above the clutch. I still have to push the clutch to start in fact i havent plugged it back in since it made no difference.

Just an update I found that I unplugged the wrong cable and every time I pressed the clutch my brake lights would come on.

about that... you must have unplugged the wrong wire. there are two plugs up there, you might not have got the right one.

i also took a switch and mounted it under my dash so that you cannot start my car without flipping the switch. the idea came from a tutorial here in the forums somewhere.

You had unplugged the cruise control clutch switch.

I don't know if it will affect crankwalk issues, I just hate the idea of the damned government telling me how to start a car. But of course, if the Feds didn't FORCE the lousy manufacturers to do things halfway "right", we'd have plywood engine blocks.
